Full of features, small and relatively easy to use.

This was to replace a bridge camera that was a bit too big and got left behind on trips. This one is small and can be easily taken, it also has more features than my bridge camera, some of them I will find usefull if not all. The camera is relatively easy to use once you get to know what the various buttons and screen touches do. I bought this very because I wanted a proper view finder and although this one is just an electrical one, it foots the bill quite well. All in all, I am very happy with the TZ80 and I would and have recommended it.

A top quality compact camera but overcomplicated by too many pointless features.

I purchased this to replace my 4-year-old Lumix compact camera. It is slightly heavier and larger than its predecessor so I had to buy a new camera bag as well. Its build quality and lens (Leica!) are superb. The zoom is magic. However, it is burdened with many features and buttons which you simply don't need in a compact camera. They really can only be made use of by an expert - who would use something more than a compact anyway. The on-line manual is 406 pages long! However, I find that by using it it primarily on auto, with only the occasional use of the macro for close up flowers, it works fine.Read full review...

Great point and shoot with terrific zoom capability

I wanted a 'point and shoot' compact camera with a long optical zoom. This fits the bill for me perfectly. It has lots of features and capabilities that I probably won't use or need - but it is easy to use and the zoom is excellent. It might not satisfy the needs of professionals or amateurs with greater photographic knowledge but it suits me down to the ground. I've not taken much video other than a sample to test it out but that looked very good too. It's a good price for what you get too. I would highly recommend it.Read full review...

Good, not great

I bought a reconditioned model. On first impressions I was glad I didn’t spend more money. Both the autofocus and the transfer to memory are rather slow (id like and expected ‘instant’!). The best feature is the touch screen - making every action quicker. On the plus side, it’s well built and fully featured. Panasonic makes good cameras. But this one doesn’t seem ‘great’. Replaced wife's TZ30 and expected the 80 to be better. It is, and in every department. Powerful zoom. Anti-shake performs superbly, and image quality is as good as my DSLR. Easy to use too.
