Superior picture quality for its size

Fairly intuitive controls for anyone familiar with digital cameras (Video feature: 'Motion Picture' is straightforward to use once you know how which is why it's advisable to download Camera's Manual - easily found as PDF on Google search). Picture quality and other camera functions are excellent. Recommended.Read full review...

A good Holiday Camera - with compromises that you need to know about.

The Lumix TZ7 is travel cameras with a long zoom range and a tiny 1/2.33" CCD sensor. That all spells "compromise".

As with all Lumix samall sensor cameras, the image quality takes a hit once the sensor is set at more than 400 - with a lot of green and purple "noise", and detail is lost if you enlarge prints to more than 7x5". With a CCD sensor, video is restricted and bright lights can cause vertical "flare" lines.

The zoom is good for the shorter 2/3 of its range - but falls off in sharpness and contrast at the "telephoto" end.

All this makes the TZ7 a compromise - it is too big for a shirt pocket compared with the tiny sized Lumix FS and FX models, and the extra benefits of the longer zoom range come with some loss of quality compared with any camera with larger sensors of the same era.

But for use as one camera for taking travel - it still beats all but the highest price range of phone cameras today (2022). Just be prepared to raise contrast and sharpness in post-processing and print to postcard size and it works out OK. But for 90% of images, the less favoured and smaller zoom-range Lumix models have their advantages too...

Camera works but display colours faulty

I am very familiar with this model. I bought two new, of which one was stolen and the other got a scratched lens. First one I bought second hand worked for a while then the focus mechanism died and does not allow you to use it. This one developed a display fault within days of getting it. Second hand so I don't know what life it's already had. However, this definitely took the shine off my purchase.Read full review...

Excellent camera - This is my third camera of this type, which I have used for work most days over the last 12 years taking up to 100 photos plus on each occasion. It is reliable and robust, producing good quality pictures and videos when required. Read full review...

Voted best small camera in range for several years

This is my third version of this superb little camera mainly because I use them so much I either damage or wear them out. It has a nice big screen and easy to use functions and is a very versatile camera for those panoramic shots as well as being able to easily cope with most other situations. The video function is one-touch simple and will capture those precious moments in an instant. The best feature however is the superb Leica lens which allows for pin-sharp images that you will cherish for a lifetime.Read full review...

Good quality but sensitive for dust

I have been using this model since 2010 with satisfaction, even - in a special case - for taking underwater pictures and videos. It is easy to handle and small and ligh enough to carry anywhere. Its half-HD quality is surprisingly good, and tanks to its wide angle lens, it can record a nice panorama even. The only negative feature is that in the course of time the ever-moving optical mechanism colects the dust which is accumulated inside and polluting th senzor therefore the pollution is visible in the pictures and in thevideoklips. (At least three times I had to have it cleaned in Panasonic service at high cost (40-50 EUR/occasion).Read full review...

Best travel camera around

I have now purchased two of these cameras one for myself and one for my husband, both to take away on holiday. This camera is excellent to travel with for those on the spot photos that we all like to take while on holiday or just out for the day. The quality of photos are excellent it has a great zoom for a small pocket camera and is light and easy to carry around.Read full review...
