An Excellent Blu-ray Player/Recorder

An excellent blu-ray machine with two small design issues. First of all, the recorder plays very well - the picture quality is excellent - the remote is easy to use and the machine is quick and responsive to remote commands. The issues, I couldn't find tray open/close on the remote. And it's soon apparent why, the front panel needs to be pulled down to expose the tray, only then should you select the open/close option on the top right of the player. The second issue, appears when selecting play with a 3D disc inserted. If the player is in automatic mode, I couldn't get it to play the disc as 3D - the machine decided the disc was 2D for some strange reason. Not a huge issue though, by placing the playback in manual mode, the machine prompts you to select 3D or 2D, and only then does it play the 3D disc. Overall I'm still impressed with quality of this recorder, and would recommend anyone in the market for a good value 3D player/recorder, to take a serious look at this Panasonic effort.Read full review

Okay

Has all the basic features I needed, freeview, DNLA, Netflix and Amazon Prime. The DNLA play has poorer file support than my four year old panasonic TV and there is a quirk whereby you cannot stream across the local network (DNLA) at the same time as recording freeview. The timings for recording of freeview channels was accurate though.Read full review

Good blu-ray player that's easy to use.

Software is quicker than that on my previous Blu-ray player, which was also a Panasonic. Initial setup is simple ans picture quality on my Samsung TV is very good. Media server function is useful although it's a shame that media copied onto the player from a USB HDD isn't available through the server. The twin TV receivers mean that one TV channel can be watched while another is being recorded or tow channels can be recorded. NIce machine in very good condition considering it's a refurb.Read full review

Great features & all round quality performance & features.

Very well made, easy to set up & excellent quality picture, recording & play back. If you have any problems with setting up some features look on You Tube & you can see it being done, this likely to be better than the printed instructions that came with mine. Two programmes can be recorded at once which is one of the handy features. It is also listed in the top five best recorders & rated as excellent.Read full review

Nice bit of kit !

This Blu ray player / Freeview play recorder is a nice bit of kit. It has somewhat quirky menu's but it works well and reliably. It does most things very well though it's response times to the remote control presses are rather slower than most modern equipment. It is a pity ITVx doesn't work on it (I wish I could delete the icon) but this is no great problem as I can watch most the same catch up programs on STV player which runs better than ITVx and has a lot less adverts !
The picture quality is good and it looks quite smart on the shelf which is a bonus. Lets hope the remaining catch
up apps continue to work for some time yet !

Works as good as any and great value

Nice browser window and capability to transfer recordings to flash drive

Just wish response while browsing and waiting for guide to populate was quicker....it's a problem with ALL freeview recorders...Humax, etc but nowhere near as slow as Youview which is like wading through treacle.

TV's dont seem to suffer from it and neither does my ancient Humax Foxsat free sat receiver ....strange seems to be just freeview recorders.

Great quality product.

Does exactly what you want it to do and does it well.
I now have four of these linked into my tv’s all with twin tuners, this ones also got Freeview Play. They are very easy to link with a external usb drive. I use Toshiba 1Tb drives as they are very inexpensive, around £28 and super reliable. I’m going to get two more and plug them straight into my new 58 inch Panasonic TV, awesome recording ability.Read full review

Stronger signal

Our TV and radio mast has been out of action for a while so we’re unable to receive a lot of channels on the normal TV aerial but with this Panasonic free view blu-ray player we can receive a stronger signal and get quite a few channels that we can’t get with the aerial connected direct to TV, so it’s not only easy to use it also acts as a signal booster. I bought 1 for each bedroom and one for the living room.Read full review
