Shallow but Satisfying

Ok Ok we all "know" that Paris is no singer and granted it is very easy to see that in two of the songs from this album.. But that said I will also say that I was amazed at how well meny of these songs did sound..

2 songs that are a great example are "I Want You" that has a sorta disco feel to it with the Grease theme sampled into the background music & The best song of the CD "Jealousy" shows a really nice singing job from paris singing about her relationship with Nicole Richie(this has very good lyrics aswell).

If you are a big Britney fan.. you would love this CD because well it really just sounds like her..

I'm not a big pop music fan But I think this CD is worth a listen if you are.
Also let me note that in a wonderfully Paris fashion this CD is full of shallow/full of herself lyrics so giving it a listen for that alone is amusing.

Overall If you don't expect alot you will be amazed and enjoy this CD.. If you are expecting some great new Wonder singer then well...... Sorry..

One more thing: What was paris thinking?? Remaking "Do ya think I'm sexy" the Rod Stewart song.. It was bad enough when he did it..This really isn't the smartest move on her part but well.... it's Paris.
Also if the above was helpful please let me know by voting. Thanks for reading.

a perfect representation of the current state of music

Something interesting I've been noticing is that many people (some of my friends included) are saying that they are surprised by how much they like Paris Hilton's new single. You shouldn't be. Someone with her infinite wealth can easily afford to hire the right team to make her album as addictive as possible. This is the same tactic that allowed Britney Spears to achieve huge success so quickly. She had powerhouse producers behind her to make her music extremely infectious, causing just about anybody who didn't know any better to think to themself, "Wow! This girl's a great artist!" No. There's a difference between being a great artist and someone with the right team of producers working on their side.

This music is addictive because of its simplicity. Simple tunes are easier to hum/sing/remember, which is very appealing to some people. They contain "safe" harmonic and melodic structures where scale degrees and chords proceed to predictable locations, which are very immediately pleasing to the ear, yet not very rewarding (especially in the long-run). Paris' music is just that: predictable melodic/hamonic structure, geared toward making people think that she is actually a surprisingly valid artist, when she's actually deceiving them so that she can gain even more fame and fortune. How predictable...like her music.

On top of it all, there's a magical device that the music industry has tried to keep hush-hush over the years, but is now becoming common knowledge to the public. Referred to by producing veteran, DJ Premiere, in the video that accomopanies Christina Aguilera's new Back to Basics album as "auto-tune", this aweful technology allows producers to adjust the pitch of someone's voice after it's been recorded. Wonderful. At least before, people with minimal talent had to re-record over and over until they got it right, hopefully learning a little bit about relative pitch in the process and forcing them to slowly learn how to sing in the process. Obviously, Paris has used this. Her "interpretation" of the melody in this song is so terrible that she obviously has had little or no vocal training, and thus, has no more of a concept of relative pitch than anybody else in the country.

Paris said in an on-set interview for her video that she does not want people to think that she is just making an album just to do it, but that she has dreamed of making one since she was very young. Well guess what, Paris? Just because you want to make an album doesn't mean you should. Leave that to the dedicated, intelligent musicians of substance like Sheryl Crow, U2, Alicia Keys, and OutKast. Go take some music theory courses and intensive voice lessons and study some of the music that came out before you were born. Read some good literature. Exercise your mind. Then maybe, even you can release a respectable album.

Money Can"t Buy Talent

What do you get when you combine a hot chick with tons of money and no real talent and an insatiable lust for the spotlight? You get a Paris Hilton CD, that’s what.
Paris churns out a 10 song full length disc with some fairly slick production, breathy vocals, hook less shallow beats and middle school study hall written lyrics. Although almost listenable, the most memorable thing in this CD package is the sexy front and back covers shots and a Maxim worthy 10 page booklet with half a dozen more sexy pics of Paris. If your music tastes are shallow and non- demanding of catchy songs or interesting story lines, some may even like this CD, but I seriously doubt anyone over the age of 12 could listen to it more than once. But, with some of the lyrical content, kids under the age of 13 shouldn’t be listening to it anyhow.
Did Paris actually write any of this stuff? Judging by the shallowness of the lyrics I suppose it’s possible (with spell check) but I can’t see a direct “written by” Paris statement within the credits. She does however take credit as an Executive Producer…. Um … just how much does it cost to be an executive producer these days???
As far as a P.H. live tour supporting this CD, there are just some things money can’t buy or fake for that matter, but if she were to do a live tour, I quite sure Paris would take credit for tour management, production, and of course the backstage passes would have a very large and sexy three color photo of Paris herself on it.
Paris is a perfect example of just how important an education really is, even if you are filthy rich by association.

Paris Hilton- Beauty and Brains over actual Talent!!!!!

For Paris Hilton Fans i'm sure this Album was great and the best thing that has probable come out, however the truth of it is that it was not that great at all, Sure there was 3 good songs on there but to please the mass it has the be some what of quality which really wasn't there. But lets think about this, these days you dont need to have Talent, just the look and the overall what i call "it". If you have "it" then your set. Paris Hilton is a socialite not an recording artist however she tried and somewhat succeeded, she has sold more than Hundred Thousand copies. So for all of her Loyal Fans i think the CD is great and a good sorce of inspiration for young girls every where.Read full review...

Stars are Blind - Aweome song! Soft sexy voice!

I love the upbeat songs with Paris' soft 'Marylin Monroe' type voice but could do without the rapper on some of the songs. Should just be Paris. Totally can stand her own with singing too! She is just terrific!Read full review...

Not a Bad CD

You honestly have to listen to this CD before you can say anything about it, in my opinion. I bought it because I am a fan of The Simple Life. I have to say that there are several songs on the album that I am a fan of - namely, "Stars are Blind" "Turn it Up" "Screwed" "Jealousy"-- these are good songs. She had a huge production crew help her out and the songs are pretty solid. She does the best she can, and it's truely not that bad. I like it.Read full review...
