Good baitcasting reel

This reel is well made, lightweight for its size, functioned well in the short time I've had it. It has one shortcoming: its a beast that takes a lot of practice with in order to make a good cast without snarling the line in a huge birdsnest of a tangle. Apparently it doesn't have any kind of magnetic, or centrifugal dampening to keep the line spool from overspinning. There is no external adjustment to prevent this backlash. My advice to anyone getting one of these reels is Practice, Practice, and Practice your cast somemore until you master it, otherwise you'll never be able to catch any fish with it.Read full review

Good basic saltwater reel

I view this as a utility reel -- good for lots of light to medium action saltwater fishing. Too light for trolling, but fine for bottom fishing, teaser rods, etc. Probably the best feature is that it's a near bullet proof reel that novices can master quickly.
