all the key features that you need - but at 30-40 years old - these are getting frial !

The Pentax P30 camera is ideal because it has all you need for "slow photography" in the 21st century of digital imaging.
[1] Focus and exposure can be full manual - on automatic it has an exposure lock which is critical for creative film photography
[2] it has a depth of field button - which is essential to compose in camera (this is missing, for example, on all the amateur Nikon cameras since the 1970s)
[3] it has a modern microchip controlled shutter and photodiode light meter - so likely to keep speed accuracy compared with clockwork shutters and silicon cells
[4] it sold in millions - and so is not "collectable" and so commands low prices
[4] it uses the Pentax-K mount - for which again millions of lenses were sold - which can be used with some or all functionality on this camera body (PK lens can be used in manaul and some automatic modes, only PK-A lenses have full automation). But hey - this is "slow photography" and for sure you will be using manual exposure. The multiple manufacturers and huge sales mean low prices on Ebay compared to Nikons, Canons etc.
[5] it uses inexpensive silver oxide batteries - not the un-replaceable mercury ones of the old Olympus, Nikons etc….
[6] viewfinder is bright because it has a true pentaprism - not a dull "penta-mirror" of the later cost-cutting models

To get the same features, for example, in a Nikon body requires to pay for a Nikon FE2 model - which is scarce, collectible and expensive today.

Outstanding quality!

This is an amazing camera, was a bit concerned of made in China, but oh boy what a camera this is.
It looks amazing, doesn't look at all cheap, as per some reviews.
Thanks for this amazing camera.
Didn't develop any photos yet, but I don't think I will be disappointed, the previous keep it in mint condition.

An easy to use 35mm film SLR

This is an easy to use SLR, which I bought because it came with a zoom lens I was interested in buying. Like all Pentax cameras I have owned, you get really good results everytime if you work at your picture taking. If you want a 35mm SLR this is a good choice.Read full review...

Pentax P30T

The best of the P range from Pentax , subtle styling changes over the P30 and P30n , and less problematic than the P50 . Accepts all Pentax PK-A lenses , has a lovely sleek feel to it as you use it , nice easy layout and bright finder with the exposure info well displayed . A satisfying clunk when you let the shutter go , no provision for a winder , no fancy and pointless gimik features , perhaps the P was for Plain and simple ... a camera ! .It`s perfect if you fancy getting out with a roll of 35mm film and a prime lens for some proper photography every now and again .Read full review...

Pentax P30T 35mm Film camera

The Pentax P30T is a good solid work horse for those interested in learning photography the right way, with film and slide photography, you get to see your mistakes in print, and possibly learn from them.
The camera has a good range of shutter speeds, from 1s to 1/1000th of a second with the addition of the "B" setting for holding the shutter open manualy, and a flash synch speed of 1/100th of a second. although this camera does not facilitate a motor drive the time spent advancing the film and cocking the shutter, can be used for thinking about the next shot.
This camera being one that takes the PK range of lenses means there is no shortage of excellent glass to fit to the front of the camera, at i may say very reasonable prices, so indulge yourself, and have some old fasioned fun, and learn proper photography at the same time!!!!!!!!!!
