Just like I remembered ... almost ... Just better!

This is a take-off of Prokiev's Peter and the Wolf, with themes and variations from that piece, and other great masters. It is perfect for “kids” of all ages.

My Dad played both albums frequently when we were growing up in the 60's. I was surprised at how many of the words (to both) I recalled after hearing them for the first time in probably 35 years.

Peter and the Commissar is still VERY funny. Some of the words have a lot more meaning now than they did when I was young ... "A camel is a horse that was designed by a committee." I am rather amazed at how much I didn't get as a kid, yet it was still one of my favorites.

As MOST of the remastered CD's I own of Arthur Fiedler directing the Boston Pops Orchestra, this has great sound quality.

To fully enjoy this, introduce yourself or your children/grandchildren to Peter and the Wolf first. I'm guessing that 1st graders might enjoy this musical story. I would guess that children in about 3rd grade on up would enjoy Peter and the Commissar.

Oh, yeah, the other two pieces on the CD are also from the original album, and are fun, too!

I wish they had taken side one and side two of the album, and put them in one track instead of two. (Doesn't shuffle well on an Ipod!) Other than that, I HIGHLY recommend this CD.
