Near- Ultimate Escapism ?

Big Rock and big-hearted Doris in possibly their most appealing collaboration. A wonderfully clever and humourous screenplay set in a perfect fantasy America of fabulous cars, fashion, absolute wealth, and old-fashioned attitudes. A super feelgood movie !Read full review...

Having a telephone fault has never been so funny.

In this smart, sexy romantic comedy from 1959, Doris Day plays Jan Morrow, a happily single career woman living in a New York apartment sometimes persued by her boss Jonathan Forbes (Tony Randell) for marriage. When she uses her telephone she finds she has a party line shared with the womanizing arrogant Brad Allen (Rock Hudson). After a few arguments over the phone it's obvious they hate each other; but Brad sees Jan and likes her and has to disguise himself in order to date her. So he adopts the comical persona of a Texan called Rex Stetson and starts seeing Jan with funny results.

The relationship between Day and Hudson is tinged with sexy tension, but works well it's easy to see why they made more films together. Sadly this DVD has no extras, but still worth owning.

A true love story just magical.

I saw this on tv once and loved it so had to buy it on dvd, its the most beautifully romantic classic film. From start to finish its exciting and has you wanting more. Its the classic almost fairy tale story were romance blossoms at the end, and to be honest its not my ususal type of film but, its done in such a non cheesy way its just adorable and a real nice film to cosy up and watch. The acting is superb and of course because of the year of film all the costumes are simply gorgeous chic.
If you dont like romance do not watch!!
so much better than all these modern cheesy romances.
Doris day is fab and so beautiful. Makes you wish things like this happend in real life but I think we all know that perfect men do not actually exist.
