Watch out, the new ones are different.
Be aware that there are two versions of this capo floating around out there. The original has a larger adjustment wheel and is slightly wider overall than some of the current ones being manufactured. I prefer the original style because the larger wheel is easier to manipulate and the wider stance of the capo itself makes it sit flat on the guitar without any fiddling. And you can't count on the picture either. I bought one from a seller who's photo showed the original model but sent me the new model. In all fairness, the model number of the two versions is the same, so I'm not even sure most sellers know there is a difference, but there is. I'd rate the old model 5 stars, the new model 3 stars. Note: In my photos you may notice that my old one is shorter than the new one. That's because I trimmed the end off to eliminate excess overhang for my particular guitar(s). I found that that overhang got in my way. Once trimmed off, it is the best capo I've ever used. I own a half dozen, trimmed them to fit individual instruments.Read full review

poor re-design by D'Addario
D'Addario has replaced the Planet Waves NS capo with a newer model, not like the one pictured above. The older model was heavier and thicker and had a larger tuning wheel. I thought it was the best capo ever. By adjusting the tension on the wheel whenever you changed fret position, you could hear the guitar coming into tune with the capo tension adjustment. The newer model, while offering the same ability, is made lighter and thinner, not having as much substance. Also, the wheel is considerably smaller and just didn't feel as nice as the older model. In several of the newer model I tried, the wheel would grind while turning and also feel like it was catching or getting stuck. Hopefully, D"addario will go back to the older model.Read full review

Planet Waves NS Capo Pro - A BETTER CAPO, BUT THERE'S A TRADE OFF!
This is a great capo! It's made of aircraft grade aluminum so it is very light weight and sturdy and can be used with either six, or 12-string guitars. To use it, you must loosen the adjustment nut, place it on the guitar fretboard, and then tighten the micrometer adjustment nut. Removing it requires the same procedure in reverse. Using the micrometer adjustment nut allows for precise tightening of the capo. This means you only tighten it to the point that there is no string buzz and it eliminates the issue of too much pressure at various points on the fretboard, a primary cause of intonation and tuning issues with capos.
Spring-type, clamp capos are MUCH quicker to change out but do not allow the user to adjust the pressure on the strings. The problem with those capos is that most apply too much pressure and can actually bend the strings at the point of contact. This is the primary reason for going out of tune after using a capo. The NS Capo Pro solves such problems with the precision micrometer adjustment nut. The NS Capo Pro works very well BUT, you must give up the speed that the spring-type capo is famous for.
To use the NS Capo Pro on stage I set it up on a second guitar so that I can just grab it and go. You could also take a couple of minutes of chatting with your audience while you attach it to the guitar, if your good at that. The NS Capo Pro is an excellent capo and has done a great job of solving many of the problems associated with capo use. The trade off is that it takes a couple of seconds to set it up and take it off. It is a better capo but it is not as convenient as other capos you may be using. For certain types of music, where spot-on intonation is not a primary concern, the standard spring capo works just fine. When each note you are playing must be spot-on, the NS Capo Pro by Planet Waves is a great way to go. JackRead full review

the capo for accuracy
I've bought and used no less than twenty capos in my 50+ years of playing guitars. Many types of capos have features I like, but when it comes to producing the most in-tune strings up the neck, this Planet Waves capo works best. No, it doesn't clamp on the headstock during a live gig, but you won't need to adjust your string tunings as you move up and down the neck picking frets on which to play. You have total tension control, and THAT's the secret. Don't let the simple approach fool you. This gives you your best sound.Read full review

BEST CAPO
I have 5 other capos Shubb, Kyser and the like. This is the best. It can get just the right tension to not detune the guitar and tight enough to solo with it on unless you are going to bend right next to it and no capo can stand that. Is very light weight and very unobtrusive. I find it very easy and fast to put on I play 12 - 16 radius necks.Read full review

Not fast, but effective
I love this capo. It has a low profile that doesn't break up the lines of you instrument with an awkward clamp handle extending perpendicularly from the neck. Just a few turns of the knob and your locked in and ready to rock. I haven't had any buzz when I've had the Planet Waves NS Capo in place. It holds tuning in any position on the neck. It performs well on my acoustic, my classical, and my electric guitars. I've even noodled around with it on my bass without any troubles.
Putting it into position can be done easily with one hand, but it does take a few turns of the knob to loosen/tighten it. It's not great if you're a player that needs to shift the capo position frequently.
I do recommend the Planet Waves NS Capo for anyone who wants a reliable, low profile tool in your bag that'll hold the tuning you want in the position you need.Read full review

Good Capo and a Very Small Format
I like the size of this capo, as I usual carry one in my pocket. And the micro-adjustment is handy. I will say that it's "in the way" a little when I use it on the first fret, compared to my Paige capo. And the neck of my guitar starts to thicken a little at the nut, so I can't move the Waves capo back from the first fret very much. And I need to do that, because the capo is in the way of my left hand

Low Profile
I was surprised at how easy this capo is to install and adjust but for me it's best feature is the low-profile approach. It allows me full use of the fretboard without hindering my finger placement.

Perfect for electric guitars with light guage strings.
Pros: You can adjust the tension on this capo unlike the spring loaded ones. When I use the Spring capos on my Les Paul it makes the whole guitar sharp because of too much tension pushing down on the strings.
Cons: It may take a little longer, and two hands to put this capo on. But maybe not if you practice doing it.Read full review

Better design than previous model
I like this capo (NS Pro) because it is designed better than the previous version in that it can attach to my guitar headstock. Previous version would not close enough and as a result, I had to put it in my pocket after finishing a capoed song. It is also designed for radiused guitar necks. It works great on both my 12-string and 6-string guitars. Good quality product.Read full review

Great product!
Not quite what I was expecting but it work great! Tightening the clip can be a bit tough at times but for the most part a great product especially for the price.
