IGN Ratings for Pokemon Diamond Version

Presentation
Though the game keeps a modest approach in visual and audio, the design goes even deeper for DS owners.

Graphics
The team purposefully stuck with imagery that stays close to the GBA style. 3D is used throughout, but if you're looking for impressive visuals you're not going to get them.

Sound
Pokemon still screech with the flair of the original Game Boy. Tunes are more advanced, though not much beyond GBA quality.

Gameplay
The already proven, very addictive Pokemon RPG and battle core is here, enhanced with DS elements like touch-screen control and internet play.

Lasting Appeal
It's a good 40-plus hours of adventuring and bulking up your team, and then you've got near endless play over wireless and Internet. You can even use the game as a VOIP phone.

Great in almost every way.

Everything came as promised, case, manual, game. Description was correct in terms of it being slightly scuffed but something i can totally look over. Only reason for 4 stars was because it was again slightly damaged but who can help that. Shipping was quick and the game functions perfectly.Read full review...

Definitely worth the price

When I received this product it looked like the actual case, the game loaded, saved and is working well, I don't know yet if it can transfer Pokemon or if the wireless features work, but it looks good. The manual and everything inside looks legit and good. Overall, I would say its a nearly identical replica of the original Pokemon Diamond, about 95% the same. Read full review...

Decent Next Gen Game

Well, I'm not going to write a bad review just because this isn't my favorite pokemon game, and its a great game, but it doesn't get a perfect from me. There are many new features that make this game great. There is the GTS which allows you to trade pokemon with people around the world. Also, there is a palpark feature which lets you transfer your old pokemon into the new game. The only issue I have with it is that it is too easy. I beat this game within two weeks of owning it. I just wish it was a little more challenging. This can be good and bad for many resons. For pokemon veterans like me, it is a bit of a let down, but it is a perfect game for people who are just starting pokemon. It gives them a pretty easy difficulty level while it is very informative. Great game for beginners.Read full review...

Great game at a great price

Since I used to play Pokemon games when my son was young, I decided to get back into it. I was used to playing the gameboy Pokemon Yellow version and now am playing the DS Diamond... the graphics are much more advance and so is the gameplay! I am very pleased with my purchase!Read full review...

Pokemon Diamond Is The Best So Far!

I just got Diamond about 2 1/2 weeks ago, and I have to say this is the best Pokemon game I have ever played and the largest library of monsters than any game EVER made. I really didn't believe some of the things that I have heard about this game, they sounded too surreal and good to be true. I really enjoyed playing Pokemon Diamond.

I think it’s a perfect game, really extraordinaire but then again that’s me being a Pokemon Fan for years. They couldn't have done much to improve Diamond, it’s that good. I love going underground, that is truly spectacular. The graphics for the whole game was absolutely wonderful.

What I thought was very cool was the use of Wi-Fi which meant I could play it online against people worldwide. I also liked the Wi-Fi clubs. The voice chat is just so cool. I’ve really liked all of the Pokemon games so far. But this game was probably the best. The new legendaries are wicked, it’s cool looking and pretty awesome in battle. I LOVE this game.

For all Pokefans this game is just hard to put down. I highly recommend this game for any and every one with a Nintendo DS/ Lite, this is one game that you can just pick up, learn, play, and enjoy playing for hours and hours. There is just SO much to do on this game, it’s like all the Pokemon games in one with extra new features I can actually confidently guarantee you that you will love this game.

Last But Not Least I Rate This Game 10/10 Overall.

Pokemon Diamond Version

Pokemon on the DS is nothing new -- we've already received Pokemon Dash, Pokemon Trozei, and Pokemon Ranger in the system's two years of life. But it's the RPG design the public's clamoring for, not the spin-offs -- those games were just biding the time while Game Freaks cranked out the enormous, ambitious, real deal Pokemon project. It doesn't matter what's going to be said in the next thousand or so words: Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl will, without a doubt, be the top-selling game released to date on the Nintendo DS. There's absolutely no debate here. Millions of gamers are going to buy this game no matter what the critical word will be, but that won't stop us from calling it like it is: Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl are still the "gotta have" portable games, but don't expect to be overwhelmed with a fresh take on the series. The team stuck to its guns and kept the DS game in line with the Game Boy Advance designs, which were, honestly, a modest upgrade to the Game Boy Color game, which, in turn, wasn't a huge step over the game that started it all in black-and-white a decade ago.

For a game that's literally sold countless millions of copies over the past ten years, it's pretty amazing to discover gamers who have yet to experience what Pokemon is all about. Under its kid-friendly, thick sugary coating lies a deceptively deep and addictive design that encourages players to create collections of highly marketable creatures of various species. The core mechanic is an adventure with role-playing game battle mechanics -- these creatures will fight for their owner using their abilities in a turn-based interface, where players choose the best mode of attack or defense that'll get them through the brawl. Winning battles will earn these creatures experience which will, in turn, advance their levels and increase their capabilities...as well as earn their owners some coin for purchases at the shops.

Pokémon Diamond - Still Great!

You can't really go wrong with generation IV, with Platinum/Heartgold/Soulsilver being the absolute finest. It's not a flawless game: the regional dex lacks fire type Pokémon until you reach the national dex after beating the league and of course that damage meter and battles can be pretty slow, but if you can overlook those things, it's got a fun and interesting plot, great soundtrack, and it's more challenging than newer entries.

I'd venture to say it still has an edge over its remakes because the whole game is provided on the cartridge; you don't have to go downloading the post-game with an online update like you do with brilliant diamond/shining pearl and the underground bases are more customizable in the original D/P/P.

It's an epic experience of nostalgia and compatible with many other games: You can migrate Pokémon from your GBA games, migrate to the Black & White games, connect to Pokémon Battle Revolution and the other generation IV games as well. This era of Pokémon was great!
