Simple, Pokemon fun.

I am glad to have purchased this movie. As a big fan of Pokemon in both game and animated form, I can say that I found this movie to be a blast.

I won't explain the basics of Pokemon, as if you want to buy a movie of it, you probably already know what it is. This movie takes place in the middle of the Best Wishes/Black and White saga of the animated series, which is the one with Cilan and Iris. Of the four movies set in this saga, this is easily the strongest one. While Ash and friends are less important to this film's plot as some other movies, the real main character of the movie, Keldeo, is very compelling in his own right, and makes up for that. Keldeo(Voiced by animation veteran Vic Mignogna) is a unicorn like Pokemon, intending to join the Swords of Justice, a group of quadruped Pokemon based on The Three Musketeers. In order to do this, Keldeo must battle the powerful Dragon Pokemon named Kyurem. After the battle goes horribly wrong, Keldeo escapes, and meets with Ash and friends. The movie has some rather strong interaction between Keldeo and the main trio, and fans should enjoy watching Keldeo build confidence from the encouragement of Ash and his friends.

While the actual plot itself is not the most original, the way it progresses is quite fun, and while some will be able to predict how it ends up, watching it reach that point is a fun journey in it's own right. The characters are wrote well, and fit into their roles. Keldeo is an interesting character, with a surprising amount of development for just one movie. Kyurem is a rather intimidating opponent. Ash and friends feel just as they do in the show. The comedic moments can get some hearty chuckles, and the final battle is choreographed extremely well, and definitely pays for all the build-up the film has given.

I do however, have to question Kyurem's transformations in the film. In the games, Kyurem needs to merge with another Pokemon to change form, however, the two Pokemon he can merge with, Reshiram and Zekrom, do not appear in this film whatsoever, leaving the transformations as completely out of the left field. However, if you are enjoying the movie, you should be able to ignore this as just another case of the animated series differing itself from the games. I certainly managed to suspend my disbelief after a short time of watching.

All in all, long-time fans should have fun with a simple, back to basics type movie. Children will also have a good time with a fun romp through the beautiful and mysterious world of Pokemon, and they will probably be watching Keldeo and Kyurem's final battle for days on end. I definitely recommend this movie for all fans of Pokemon.
