The Cure - Pornography
I bought this classic CD from the beginning of the band, and it is a masterpiece. For those o like pop music you must have this record in your shelf, it's the best Cure record.
Pornography - The Cure
Originally released in 1982, this is Robert Smith's darkest hour - and he takes you down with him. After the punk of 'Three Imaginary Boys' the Cure had got progressively darker with the 1980 album 'Seventeen Seconds' and 'Faith' (1981), until they reached the nadir of angst with 'Pornography'. There are some great songs here, but they are not for the faint-hearted. 'Hanging Garden', the single, takes you on a brilliant, pounding rollercoaster ride into the jungle, 'Siamese Twins' is a fascinating, funereal dirge that ends with Smith wailing, "Is it always like this?", and the title track Pornography provides the only light note of the entire album, finishing with the pun "I must fight this sickness, find a cure." I was going through some bad stuff back then and the Cure provided the soundtrack. Strangely it wasn't depressing. Maybe it was finding out someone else had been there already. This is your dark night of the soul. Excruciatingly wonderful!Read full review...
