Body building at its best

This DVD was bought for my husband. he had the video but wanted dvd as we have only dvd players now. he was so impressed with it. he had never stopped watching it.

a MUST for any Arnie or body building fan !!! no doubt

This is a real classic and a genuine piece of history, not just in the film world but in body building also, a must have for any self respecting Arnold Schwarzenegger fan and serious body builders alike. There is nothing else out there that can be compared on the same scale as this and if you want it on region 2 format be prepared to pay quite a lot of money compared to the average DVD as they are extremely rare and in high demand- so that speaks for itself really!
Its not all about body building either- far from it, aswell as some truelly excellent filming and nostalgic footage it also shows just how strong and powerful your mind can be if you are driven and focused enough... Many said at the time that this was being filmed that Arnold had already won before they even started (and this was nothing to do with his physical training or appearance) but purely down to his ability to play mind games with his opponents- comparisons have been made in the past to Muhammed Ali. Both true heroes in their own sports.
He had many contestants believing that they couldn't win or were not up to the grade days before the contest even began! One particular contestant that he really had convinced was Lou Ferrigno (the original incredible hulk) who also appears in this a fair bit. He had him believing that his legs were far to small, and i think at one point he was even considering pulling out of the contest.
So don't be deceived this is not just footage of people working out in a gym, there is so much more to it... and if you are considering buying this then be warned at the time i wrote this the average price they were fetching on ebay (second hand) for a region 2 genuine DVD was between £20 and £25- but worth every penny if you are interested in any of the above. i think its needless to say what my verdict is on this product but just incase you actually seemed to miss it- i give it 10 out of 10, more if i could! Pumping Iron, Brilliant

This is a brilliant documentary filmed in the 1970's when the sport of body building was a little known fringe sport, not the global, multi million £ industry of today.

The documentary follows Arnold Schwarzenneger as he attempts to lift his 6th Mr Universe title in a row. The documentary offers an excellent insight into the sport but also into the characters of the competitors of the Mr Universe competition that year. It is here that Schwarzenneger becomes the star of the show, not only with his performances oiled up on the stage but he was an obvious star waiting to explode on the international scene.

Well worth watching if you even have the slightest interest in body building or physical sports.Read full review...

Legend!!

quite simply Arnie is a legend! A documentary about bodybuilding in the early days of the sport, but mainly focuses on Arnie. Is a documentary although some parts have been dramatised to give the film more of a storyline. This film really shows what a driven and determined to succeed person Arnie is, a must for any fan of his! to just prove how determined this guy is, he actually says in this film how he'd like to be a world famous actor and then maybe get into politics, bearing in mind this was made in the 70's!!, and look what he's done! exactly that.Read full review...
