Great Product with good features

I have used a Radio Shack Antenna Amplifier on my attic antenna even before the switch over to digital. It worked well and allowed me to receive signals over 25 miles from my location. The new unit has 2 outputs which means you don't need a splitter to connect 2 TV's, as the splitters inject an additional 3 to 4 DB loss of signal when you insert one. I would recommend this amplifier to anyone needing the additional signal boost, as digital TV requires better signal to noise than the old analog transmissions. You also need to consider your distance from the stations which determines
the antenna required and also the coax cable losses from the Amplifier to the TV's.

It does amplify TV signals, but it's no better than my previous Radio Shack unit.

I was hoping that it would solve poor reception problems that I attributed to the previous antenna amplifier I was using. But this unit made no difference whatsoever.
This unit includes a small gain adjustment knob, but it doesn't do anything at all; it makes no difference (I have a TV with a signal strength meter, so I know that nothing changes when I turn the adjustment knob).Read full review

Great amp but sensitive to lightening

The adjustable gain is very necessary in remote locations. I receive two stations whose signal will break up if the gain is too low or too high; it has to be set just right. This amplifier works well, but the "outdoor" amp is sensitive to lightening strikes. This is the 7th amp I've had to buy over a 20 year period. If lightening strikes within about a quarter mile of my house and I have not disconnected my antenna first, then the outdoor amp will cease to work on 2 or 3 of the channels I receive. By the way, I properly installed a lightening surge protector between the antenna and outdoor amp, but it did not completely solve the problem. If you never get lightening ground strikes where you live, then you have nothing to worry about with this amp, but if you do get them, be careful.Read full review

Great antenna booster to get better digital reception.

Base antenna amplifier works so well that I run the second amplifier provided at the TV in the off mode. If I turn the second amplifier on it overloads the TV and stations are lost. I am now picking up stations with towers 26 miles away from me in hilly terrain. I have a huge antenna in my attic, but with no booster I get only 4 channels. With my old cheap booster i got 20 channels. With this new Radio Shack unit I now get 42 channels. Works great and seems to have good build quality.Read full review

It worked for me!

I had a hard time finding a good antenna booster that would actually work well and this one fit the bill. I tried an RCA amplifier I purchased here on Ebay and quite frankly it didn't improve my reception and I had to return it, but this jewel worked as described. I highly recommend this amplifier. I turned off the booster switch and set the gain about 2/3 of the way to maximum and it worked like a charm. I got all of my channels back and then some.Read full review

Very Nice Reception and More Channels!

Great amplifier with excellent signal gain adjustment. Originally only had 3 channels and now I have 18 very strong. Correctly installed this will work. Make double sure you have the antenna aimed and mounted correctly from the start or it won't work well. Also, only pick an antenna by how far you are away from the broadcast stations!!! I checked my distance from stations and I needed a 60 mile antenna with an amplifier just like it said. Visit Antennas Direct to help aim towards the stations by entering your zip code. I have a semi omnidirectional antenna (ClearStream 2V) which makes aiming much easier. Remember not to over amplify because it will make most channels not pick up!!!!Read full review

Poorly constructed!

The cable connectors were missing the nuts to secure them to the plastic face on both the pole and the indoor piece. If there is any stress on them they will separate from the circuit boards. On the power input connection the solder came loose before I could even get it working. Ended up throwing it away. I have seen others of this model that worked very nicely, they apparently were made correctly.Read full review
