If you liked the book don't bother!

I read the book, which was gripping, and was pleased to find a film had been made with one of my favorite actors (Kristen Scott Thomas) plus Harrison Ford and logged on to ebay immediately to get a copy. What a disappointment - it might be fine for someone unfamiliar with the original story, as it is a competent glossy Hollywood production, but it was difficult to recognize any of the original text. I found myself becoming increasingly more irritated as names, occupations, characters, storylines and plot twists were changed beyond recognition until only the central starting point (two people die in a plane crash and their respective spouses realize they were having an affair) existed -spiced up with unnecessary Hollywood glitz such as a dirty cop shooting our hero and the celebrity status of the heroine.
