5 Star Product saved me buying a new hood for my Saab Convertible

If you follow the instructions eg clean the roof properly with a canvas hood cleaning product first and let it dry thoroughly before applying, the product is brilliant. my car ( Saab 93 Convertible ) actually needed a Litre bottle plus a half Litre bottle to give the required two coats. A single 1 Litre bottle is just not enough if you want to properly evenly cover the whole roof.
Used a new 2" paint brush and really made sure the canvas was wetted out properly during each coat.
Allow yourself enough time to do each coat and allow the hood to properly dry for 2 to 3 hours before applying the second coat.
Due to my hood being very old and in not great shape before hand I actually ordered a second lot of Renovo the following week and gave it Two more coats just to be certain. So I actually gave my roof 4 coats. You cant over do it as it will run off and not soak in when its had enough.
(The car was garaged between times )
I have now had my car out in the worst heavy rainfall and nothing has come through where previously It leaked terribly.
Worth doing also is cleaning all the rubber seals around windows and where the hood meets the top of the windscreen frame and using silicon lube to restore the rubbers and make them soft again this makes a difference also.
I will be using Renovo in future to keep my roof watertight and next time I shall try using the colour restorer to improve the look of my hood.
The other thing to watch is keep a damp cloth to wipe off the runs from the body work before they dry onto the paint etc.
Overall Excellent product and really works despite what some reviews have suggested
It has saved me from buying a new hood.

Renovo Ultra-Proofer - very disappointing!

I was expecting great things from this product for my convertible soft top, as it is suggested for use on boats etc. and chose it over the Autoglym products I had previously used. However, I noticed that after the first application (instructions carried out exactly), that during a light shower of rain there was no beading of water on the canvas. I tried to apply a second coat (extremely difficult to do), in the hope that it would improve the water-proofing effect, but no, the water still soaks into the canvas! I can't comment on how effective it is in resisting mould and mildew, but I'm really not impressed with it's water-proofing properties. I wish I had stuck to the product (Autoglym) I knew worked...definitely won't buy it again, and in fact I will be disposing of what's left, as I wouldn't waste my time trying to re-apply it!!Read full review...

Easy to apply

Delivered as promised, well packaged and is easy to apply. I gave it three coats and when I washed my car the water beaded on the soft top just like the rest of my car. There maybe cheaper products on the market but as you don’t have to do it very often the savings would be very small, highly recommend Read full review...

Works

I used this product as a kit - 500ml cleaner, Colour and proofed at first. Went to Silverstone where it rained and it got wet inside the Hood where it was touching the frame.
Although the kit was sold with 500ml of proofer it requires 2 coats (I’m my case just under a litre) - not mentioned in my initial purchase. I then purchased 1 Litre and applied a further 2 coats. Result! No water ingress in the wettest of weather!Read full review...

easy and effective

It took me two coats, each about half an hour to apply, to resist the heaviest downpours on my 12 year old SAAB 9-3 convertible roof. I'm very pleased with the product, as the roof now looks better and doesn't seem to leak at all. Very cost-effective and easy to use product. Waterproofer

I bought 1lL because it was better value. I ,used just over 1/2 L to do my black mohair hood. I had already done 2 coats of their black restorer. This was a classic Bentley. You really have to mask off well with tape.cardboard and sheets. Do small areas at a time thoroughly wetting the canvas. When dried it all seems good. I have a few unexplained different shades in some small areas but generally you can't see them so hopefully it will prevent rain water.Read full review...

Proof of proofing!!

When used in conjunction with the Renovo Fabric soft top cleaner it gives an excellent waterproof finish.
I have been using this on an A4 soft top (not garaged and my daily drive) for the last four years and it lasts really well.
The Easter holidays are when it gets done.... a self imposed annual task.... as better weather allows the drying between the cleaning and the proofer treatment.
Just love seeing the first rainfall on it afterwards with the beading!!

Renovo vs Volvo Branded Proofer

I've used both products on the hood of my Volvo C70 and the Renovo is, in my opinion, a superior product. I did find however it is not advisable to leave it too long before applying the second coat as when the first coat is dry it even repels it's own liquid, this can be overcome by applying a small amount on a clean cloth to start with just to wet the surface, then the second coat can be brushed on. Time will tell how well the product performs in winter conditions but initial impression is very good.Read full review...
