Ferocious FEMALE Ranting at its BEST~

Ive been an all dedicated Pj Harvey fan for numerous years now, & have yet to find any artist quite like her. This is one of my favorite albums of hers & one of her earlier works...which is the one's I favor from her! It has such a THUNDEROUS sound, & she is just such a lyrical Goddess!! Its punk inspired as Pj's early stuff is, but it has a soulful blues touch that makes you move! Its filled with sexual Female ranting ...& what woman doesnt love that...it lets us get our agression out..& Pj Surely inspires that here with this album! Its abrasive with guitar licks that are genious & tat on top of Pjs bluesy singing,..it makes it a true masterpiece! Ive heard & read people in the past compare Pj to other chick singers such as Tori Amos, Kate Bush, Sara McLaughlan..and this is NOT so,..Pj Harvey is NOTHING like those folky women...Pj is a ROCKSTAR in herself. Really..i have yet to find any other female artist with a sound such as Pj's...noone can compare! Other albums of Pjs that are a favorite is DRY which was released in 1997, 4 Track Demos which was released in 1993, To Bring You My Love which was released in 1995, Uh Huh Her & B Sides are newer from about 2004, and the Peel Sessions is the newest from 2006 but it has alot of the older songs on it. Im not that big of a fan of her Stories from the City album which was released in 2000...dont get me wrong..i still like it..its Pj, how could I not, but I found that it didnt have the raw sound that i love from Pj,& i feel the same with the Is This desire which was released in 1998 & the same with the Dance Hall at Louse Point with John Parish..again, still like them, but they arent the raw thundering sound i love.
Any gal out there looking for that perfect female artist,...she's here in Pj Harvey..& you will love her!

Not my Cup of Tea

I don't really like P.J. Harvey. I usually really enjoy female singers/songwriters who do their own thing and who are rocking. PJ Harvey is certainly better than most out there, it is just not my cup of tea, or so I have found out. I don't like the Hole-like screaming and the simplicity of the music. I can see how many can be attracted by this, but like I said, I don't think it's anything special or worth owning. In fact, I am selling this cd right now. Maybe, you'll even buy it from me as PJ Harvey certainly has a wide base of fans...I am just not one of them at this point.Read full review...
