Helmet 10 months use. Improvement Tip.

This is a snug helmet and competes well with a previous one I bought fot around £40 which lasted 4 months. The ear defenders on the previous one fell off when it dropped off a bin onto concrete, I had to bolt them on.

I've used this one 3 to 4 times a week and its holding up pretty well.

Wearing this I've hit my head on low lying branches quite often and been floored a couple of times, proper neck crunches.

Without a helmet I walked into a thin tree branch and cut my eye over the pupil so I'm not taking chances as it took a while to heal so the screen is a must have.

The ear defenders don't seem to push out to be placed on the top of the helmet -you have to shove them up there.

There is a rubber locating washer  which has holes in si the face gard holds in place. Mine desintergrated and the gard flops down all the time and makes a loud sound as in falls and squeaks a lot as you walk.
I had to put the screen fully up vertical to hold it in place when not in use and this caught in trees etc and often pulled the whole assembly out where it is attached above the ears  see. photo.
I stopped this by adding bolt and wing nut  which holds it in place. Works a treat.
Just have to tighten now and then may use a rubber washer to improve it more.  I heated up a screw driver to make a hole and threaded a bolt through.

The screen can get crushed If you are  leaving the helmet in the car boot with other items it rolls about. I keep mine in the foot well.

The screen got caught and tore so I got a replacement one on Ebay: Replacement Mesh Visor for Chainsaw Helmets & Strimmer Headgear Universal Fit.

Overall a good helmet especially for the price and with the nut and wing nut holding the face in place...silence

Poor Husqvarna copy

I had a Rocwood chainsaw helmet that was a Stihl copy with wired ear protectors. It was great and the noise cancelling superb. Better than the Stihl helmet I also owned. I regret however my pup chewed an earpiece so needing a new helmet I ordered this thinking it would be as good as the old. It is not. The ear/noise protection is very poor and the face screen does not even fit into the helmet fittings and falls out. If I had not binned the packing box days before using the helmet I'd send it back. A total waste of money and simply disappointing. Read full review...

Quality chainsaw work hat

This chainsaw hat with built in ear defenders is a great bit of kit. It is lightweight and comfortable to wear. It all works as it should. The visor works well and there is an adjustable headband to hold everything in place whilst working. Don't be put off by its relatively low cost compared to other known brands. Read full review...

Apart from the instructions, it's excellent

Arrived promptly, well packaged. The instructions are rubbish - they tell you about assembling the visor and fitting some part to the helmet - this has already been done so you waste a bit of time before you realise this. Also the description of one part in the diagram has a different name from the same part n the wording, so that confuses things too. They need to be re-written - they don't help the assembly process. Once I worked out that the adjustment knob actually drops down to be adjusted, I could make the helmet fit my head.

In operation, it's excellent. It stays on my head, the visor doesn't obstruct vision but keeps out sawdust and flying stones, and the headphones stay out of the way. It is now a part of my daily worktools

Comfy helmet with good protection

Great protection, Ideal for chainsaw and brushcutter, at this price I'd say for home users and pro use it's a good choice of protective helmet. Fully adjustable and comfortable to wear especially with the ear defenders down, very nice fit and stays still on your head. For this price you'd be nuts to go without the protection that this helmet provides (Don't forget your chainsaw trousers too, expensive but better safe than sorry)Read full review...

Great for the price.

Good basic safety hat. Fine for my occasional use. Great for the price. Probably want something more comfortable ( expensive)if I was going to use it everyday.
Cheaper than replacing the ear defenders on my old one. Read full review...

For less than £15 delivered you get a reasonable budget quality domestic use helmet with good visor and usable ear protection.

For less than £15 delivered you get a good budget quality domestic use helmet with good mesh visor, usable ear protection and a functional chinstrap.
Not what Forestry workers would need for use on a daily basis, but as with most domestic tools and product, it provides good protection for occasional use.

The only slight niggle is that the ear defenders (which work well to reduce noise) catch on the plastic headband cage (that sits inside the actual helmet shell) when you flip them down to cover the ears. You need to pull the ear pods out from the head (quite a lot) to move them.

I was pleasantly surprised at how seemingly solid the whole thing was. Time will tell how robust the thing will be but I expect the weak point will be the ear defender attachment points. Will update if that is the case.

Does the job

For the price you can't complain. The straps internally hurt like crazy but a bit of gaffa tape for padding sorted that out. And guard won't stay up. But for a little over a tenner it might just save your eyesight or a new scar. Worth every pennyRead full review...

Great product.

Thanks so much for the great safe helmet. So easy to put together. Within the comments I read that it would be good if you supplied instructions on how to put the helmet together.

If you need instructions on putting this together then you shouldn’t be using a chainsaw.Read full review...
