A Groovebox That's An Excellent Compact Powerhouse
For those who are dipping their toes into the world of Grooveboxes, the Roland MC-101 is an excellent choice. This is friendlier to the pocket than many of its peers, at the same time being a sonic marvel, condensing Roland's proven groove production into a compact, battery-powered device. Its sturdy build is designed for the rigors of live performance, with intuitive controls and a clear layout. The ability to pay polyphonic sounds, and maintenance of stereo sounds are real icing on the cake.
The sound engine harnesses the full range of Roland's ZEN-Core synthesis and rhythm sounds, providing a diverse palette from vintage analog synth tones to modern digital beats. With a 4-track sequencer, each hosting either a drum kit or a synth, it offers excellent flexibility.
Its extensive sample manipulation capabilities, full suite of effects, and ease of importing your own samples makes it a powerful tool for beatmakers and sound designers. Modern MIDI and USB connections ensure seamless integration into any setup.
In short, the Roland MC-101 is a portable, affordable, comprehensive sound design and production package. It stands testament to Roland's reputation for excellence in music production technology.Read full review

Wonderful Musical Device. Best Value in Grooveboxes.
I have the MC 101 and the MC 707. You would think if you had the MC 707 you wouldn't need the MC 101, but I stagger my songs when I play live, so while one machine is playing a song, the other can be loading a new song for seamless performance transitions. And the best part, all songs composed on the MC 101 can be transferred into the MC 707 if need be. I never use the synth edit functions on the MC 707, since it already has so many ready-to-play sounds, so the lack of those controls on the MC 101 never bothered me. I actually find the MC 101 a bit easier to use than the MC 707 when it comes to composing songs, and I only purchased the MC 707 after having the MC 101 for awhile because I found I wanted a higher track count. But for most songs, the MC 101 covers Drums, Bass, electric piano (rhodes), and either a string, bell or pad. I have a band that plays all the other parts, so the MC 101 is just there to keep us glued together. The sounds are professional, with every Roland kit you can think of included - along with 3000 other synth sounds. You really can't go wrong for the price.Read full review
Sound mangling fun box
Makes for really good sounding sketchpad with a deep synth & 90 effects plus 6 outputs & 4 inputs. But I don't like that samples aren't saved as wav files but some Roland file that can't be shared with other samplers plus the 1 minute at a time sample limit. Best if u use the sampler just to feed the synth for endless sound mangling madness!Read full review
