Great blowtorch

I used a friends unit (a professional plumber) and it was a fantastic improvement on my 40 year old propane unit. I love the self ignite, it's small and easy to move around the copper fittings in tight spaces and has plenty of adjustable power to solder the 22mm pipe I was fitting.
It is made to a very high quality and was so impressed I bought one for myself.
It's not cheap but when it is needed it has to work so worth paying the extra for such a robust torch. Easy to order any spares and the disposable gas bottles locally so can't see why it won't last a long time.
Highly recommend this unit.

Gas canister irritation

Everything worked but torch is described as 1" US thread for gas canister, this seems to translate in Britain to CGA600 therefore you are tied to purchasing CGA600 gas canisters, which from my experience are very expensive. Adaptors can be bought to convert to the common, in Britain, EN417 bottle but their quality can be hmmm. I'd say, until they supply it with a good adaptor to 417 then quality notwithstanding I'd avoid it. Read full review

Serious piece of kit.

I have used many torches in the past but this is by far the best.
The torch is a very solidly built piece of equipment. The automatic ignition works really well. I have been using the torch for silver soldering with MAP gas with great results.
Clearly you can get cheaper units but there is no comparison on quality.
This is a torch that will last.

Well built torch, easy to use, should last years.

Not cheap but a solidly built, efficient and powerful torch. I think I paid £55 including delivery which was cheaper than screwfix but then obviously had to buy the gas bottle. Propane is great for pipework and brazing. The flame is controllable and stable, never flares or pops, and starts instantly at the press of the trigger. Good buy. As long as I don't lose it, I think it will last me many years.Read full review

Just a great tool

Rothenberger is a excellent brand name in plumbing tools and had been recommended to buy this one . Had to buy an adapter to fit the type of gas bottle I was using after that all was good

The best soldering torch.

There is only one brand that gives a good flame for soldering and this is it. The fact you can get a good flame whilst upside down is bonus.

You get what you pay for.

Bought this to replace a monument torch which after having for just over a year decided to leak gas through the handle and emptied quarter of a cylinder of gas into the back of my van. The Rothenberger blow torch looks, feels and works far better. It ignites with one click of the trigger and gives a clean flame that's controllable. Wish I bought this first and not wasted my money on a cheaper but poor quality torch first. Lesson learnt!Read full review

Great blowtorch

Very good torch, much better than the one I had before. Quite vicious on MAPP gas so not much use for delicate jobs but I use it to free off rusted vehicle fasteners and it’s perfect for this. Haven’t used it a great deal yet but it doesn’t seem to to flare which is it’s main advantage.

I believe that you can get less volatile gas and smaller burn nozzles for finer work.

Arrived quickly and in its original retail packaging from the supplier.

The best handheld blowtorch.

A superb torch, with a useful piezo unit built in to light it easily. It was designed for 'real' mapp gas (propadiene/ propyne) with which it gives a good hot, controllable flame, but as this is no longer available, mapp substitute (propene), or propane must be used, which is perfectly ok, but not quite as hot burning.
A good, solid unit- I hunted for one and am delighted with it.
It could be classed as expensive, but as it says on the box 'original and best' - true.

Excellent torch

This must be the best blowtorch money can buy and is worth every penny.
Flame lights immediately, and it's ready to use straight away.

It's built really well and feels almost indestructible, although I have no intention of testing that claim!Read full review
