Uplifting but a little bit like afterschool special.

Former teen heart throb, current acting lecturer Robby Benson as Billy Mills, the American Indian track runner and Olympic star. Some conflict and knuckleheaded prodding by his University of Kansas coach, played by the late Pat Hingle. Somewhere between the edgy theatre release in 1983 I saw and the PG-rated 2004 DVD version I just watched, some scenes have been cut. Probably an ideal film for your budding long-distance or cross-country family star to see, if not exactly the same film you remember from the early 1980s.Read full review
