Bit of a compromise but still usefull

The antenna was bought as a backup to a horizontal wire antenna and to access bands that were no covered. All HF verticals have limited sensitivity and multi and ones are always a compromise. However I can match it on all the quoted bands with the radio’s internal tuner. Performance is not great but it’s still useful.Read full review...

Small changes for big improvements.

Very thin, hard aluminium, which makes it light. No information on wind rating and as it seems very flexible and on the move in the slightest wind To prevent sudden failure, I shall fitting bamboo stiffening inside. The connection to the whip is via a single plated screw into a raw brass insert in the base insulator. I put self amalgamating tape over this as corrosion would rapidly degrade the performance. The clamps should be stainless steel, but are low quality hose clips. I shall be replacing these as soon as I can get to a marine supplier. It works very well on all bands with my MAC autotuner although the advice to fit an earth does not make any difference to the noise level.Read full review...

Nice antenna.. easy to install.. so far, ok results

Easy to install antenna. Very light. I live in an apartment block on the second last floor and managed to mount into onto my balcony railing without complaints. So far it works well and made some contacts all over over Europe (I live in Europe). With my internal ATU, I can get a very low SWR anywhere from 40 M to 10 M. Read full review...

Performed well but the base came apart on me so I took the antenna down.

I mounted it on a 40-foot extendable mast extended to about 30 feet or so.
I've received good reports on the signal that they received on 75 Meters
from my station and was about the same signal strength that they were giving
me about 60 Miles away from me locally here and I think that they were using
a horizontally-polarized wire antenna. I did notice that no matter how tight I got
the jubilee clamps that a couple sections would slide in and out if I attempted to
slide them but they did stay in place otherwise. I also had the base of the antenna come apart on me so the antenna is no longer up. I did have a RF choke or current
balun underneath the antenna what MFJ calls a RF Isolator.

I should of built my own..

Its a CB silver rod with a balun.... adequate quality, I wouldn't say "good"... It loads on all bands except 24mhz, where it's actually better without an ATU, although still only 2:1, so 24mhz is out.. yes it loads well everywhere else, it receives well, but so does a long wire... It radiates better than a dummy load... Don't expect any dx with it.. but you'll work all of Europe and into Russia. Read full review...

Great Little Portable, Small Footprint Antenna!

I was looking for a portable, small footprint, easy to set up HF antenna that I could use in my RV and for other "portable" operations. This seemed perfect. I made the order from Oregon, USA and the antenna was promptly shipped from the UK via FedEx. I had it in hand three days later!

The materials are lightweight, the fit & finish is excellent and the whole thing goes up in literally in a couple of minutes. The manufacturer had marked the sections where they should be fitted and all went together very well. I have the antenna mounted on a bicycle repair tripod-like stand and it is quite secure against the wind, etc. Using a compact, mAT-30 auto-tuner with my older. small Yaesu FT-100 HF transceiver, I am able to achieve a match on every band, including the SSB portion of 75 meters! Signal reports are good and it seems to have good receive capabilities.

All in all, I am very pleased with the antenna and would recommend it to others looking for a great portable, small footprint HF antenna!

Great Antenna for the price

Works surprising well for a vertical.Easy to assemble decent quality.Tunes on all bands no problem with internal and external atu.Height is not might.Got this mounted at the base 4 mts high with 5 elevated radials at 5.5 mts long.Worked Canada USA Brazil Peurto Rico most of Europe and the Eastern Block and also Philipines.Overal comparison to a Inverted V and a G5rv = very impressive.Read full review...

Se Hf -X80 Vertical antenna

It works well. However you need the plus kit to get the best out of the antenna. Be prepared to put out as many radials as you , espescially if it is mounted at ground level. Same as you would with any other vertical antenna. (The more radials, the better) . I found the plus kit worked very well, and worth the extra £60.00. It alows you to mount the antanna at more or less any height. Read full review...

neat and covers most bands with great SWR. No radials is a winner also

not as good as G5RV but ok for limited section.

Okay if you know what you are really getting.

Antenna is simply a 6m/18ft end-fed with an UNUN to get the high impedance down to something more manageable. It is still not close to 50 ohms despite what the specs say. In fact, to avoid significant loss in your feed line, you should install an automatic ATU at the antenna. As with all ground mounted verticals, performance will very wildly depending on your soil type. Because it is shorter than 1/4 wavelength, there will be very little low angle radiation. The only reason to favor this antenna over a horizontal end-fed is if you don't have much installation space.Read full review...
