Could be the best piece of equipment you ever buy
Silva were the compass to have when I first began hillwalking a long time ago and were always considered a quality name. This has replaced the original of the same model which gave over 25 years of service.
It is compact and should be worn on a cord, preferably round your neck at all times when walking in the great outdoors, because then you will know exactly where it is.
It is straightforward to use (learn it before you go out walking), well made and does what it was designed for. It needs no battery. I have used it to navigate with a map and it does the job admirably. I also used its predecessor to successfully navigate down a mountain when caught out at night in a blizzard following an accident when I was a lad. It was the only bit of kit that was up to the job and it was hanging round my neck. Much appreciated.Read full review...
