SMC Towing A Frame 2.6Ton Car Recovery Dolly Trailer Heavy Duty Professional

Pretty robust construction, some minor design faults.

I put this together on Sunday. All the holes and bolts are well drilled and the tolerance is acceptable.

The strap routing for the belts attached to the chains could be a bit better by allowing them to feed under the strap tension roller when the tensioner is bolted in place. Sadly this cannot happen as there is a spring release attachment that would get in the way and cause the strap to possibly tear on it (especially under tension) when towing. However by double chaining the Car front strut and applying the tension without the roller use you achieve the same effect. All be it with the belt flapping when towing. Therefore the strap is not flat when under tension and subsequently the chain. It would also be a good Idea to have sleeved the Chain to prevent damage to the struts and towing frame when flapping (but you can do this yourself with a bit of hose.

The paint coating is ok but I would paint it again and maybe inject some wax oil into the frame to help preserve it. I would also paint any of the bright metal. Other than that it seems good enough though a bit expensive for what it is. It is also heavy... so it is definitely a "one man" thing.Read full review
