samsung S6 Edge

I had Apple iPhones for several years but found the latest batch from the 5 upwards have problems with the non industry so lightning charger connector that doesn't always work, cost me a fortune replacing cables and repair to the socket. particular socket actually limits connectivity anyway unless one keeps buying Apple specific adaptors. So thought well about time to get a replacement for my iPhone 6 and decided to leave Apple stuff and try Android and bought the Samsung 6 edge. first thing I noticed was the screen payout which is brilliant there an app icon to access all the apps which can be selected individually and placed on the home screen, result, less cluttered home screen with only the most used apps for quicker access. This has an industry standard USB port for rrapid charging and data transfer. OTG via the USB port is a plus. Also has inductive charging. Backup is done from the phone via internet to either Google or Samsung depending on selection, I chose Google as next phone might not be a Samsung so no need for PC software like iTunes which didn't work on my Win 10 PC anyway. In my view the screen is far better than the iphone and processor speed is superior. Downside battery doesn't last long when data connection is active but I have since found that I can select battery saving mode which gave some improvement. Other downsides.......For me I haven't found any. I would recommend this phone or indeed the S6 with similar specs, My wife has the S6.Read full review...

Nice, featured, but fragile

Looks stunning, has a good feature set overall. Samsung bloatware is unwelcome and not terribly useful. Battery discharges quite rapidly to be honest, they should have put a bigger standard battery in. The battery can be changed by removing/replacing the back glass though, so since you are bound to have that opportunity that may be a time to upgrade the battery as well.

There are some great accessories for this phone, so charge cases and add-on physical keyboards can give the device a further distinctive.

Unfortunately, as hinted, these Samsung phones are not built to last and are in many ways poor quality for the price they command. Incidentally, iPhone build quality is no better. If we were not treating these multi-hundred pound gadgets as throw away items would be completely unacceptable in any other industry. These metal bodied glass backed phones are a nightmare. The slightest touch or flex breaks them, Gorilla glass or not. The screens are also extremely flimsy. For devices that are carried around day in day out for perhaps a year or two, the fragility is quite ludicrous.

On top of that these Samsung's feature a very "retro" screen burn issue and the dreaded permanent "black spot" problem. These things again, should not be happening on such expensive products.

Blackberry PRIV has better specs in a lot of ways, looks well, but is also well made and can easily survive drops and impacts or even being dropped in the toilet - without a case. Nokia's also tend to be more robust, but are far cheaper than Samsung or Apple offerings. I bought the S6 second hand and was not impressed - so bought a Nokia 6 which is a far better phone.

Anyway, the S6 is def a nice looking phone, relatively good value second hand, has a good spec, but despite its price is not likely to be a long-term companion.

A really great phone, good value if you buy a good used one.

All the features you could possibly need & one of the best screens in the business.
Although introduced a couple of years ago, still knocks spots of nearly all the new ones, & still one of the best looking phones out there.
Still available new for a reasonable price, & good used ones about for bargain prices.
Easily the the best phone I've ever owned (including some i phones).
You will not be disappointed.

This phone is fantastic

This phone is fantastic, the battery charges very fast but if you put it into flight mode whilst charging t will only take a short amount of time to charge. Running Android Marshmallow v6.0.1 and Knox security version 2.6. You can wake it up by waving your hand over it, I use it as a personal organiser as most people do, it wakes me up, reminds me of appointments. It has a good camera and you can create your own wallpaper by turning a photo you have taken into an abstract image.

There are hundreds of features including the edge screen which allows you to see who is calling with the phone face down. The edge screen also includes a shortcut for most frequently used applications as well as the contacts. This is a fantastic feature which I use all the time. You can also change the screen lay out including a choice of which screen layout suits you best, including 4 x 4, 4 x 5 and 5 x 5. (placement of icons)

You also have a choice of screens including adaptive display, amoled photo, amoled cinema as well as basic.

The Samsung galaxy S6 Edge plus is a great purchase, the battery lasts a long time and charges in a fraction of the time, and is a dream to use.

Galaxy S6 Edge

Great phone. Responsive and solidly built. My only concern is the battery. It does not last more than one day, even with little use. I hope it does not deteriorate because the batter is not removable, so it would involve significant expense to get a specialist to take the phone apart and fit a new battery.Read full review...

Great second hand

2 years old but still works a charm. Battery life is not amazing but the fast charge feature makes up for it. Goes from 0% to 70% in half an hour! Best phone I've had

S6 Cracked Screen

Screens shattered & partly missing, not cracked. It's also 32g & gold, not black or 64g as advertised.
Other than that, it's what you would expect from a Samsung phone...
