Good touch screen phone with enough options to get you going.

Samsumg Omnia model number SHG I900 is touch screen smart windows 6.1 phone.

It is 3G, HSDPA with 7.2 mbps, 3.2" screen touch screen phone. It has following good features; 8GB internal memory, 16GB card support, EDGE, GPRS, Vibration, Bluetooth, WiFi, 5.0 MP Camera with Flash, SMS, EMS, MMS, Email, WAP , Radio, Java support, GPS, Rotate sensor, Secondary Camera and TV out. Etc.

The bad point is battery life. It finishes the battery too quickly. Espacially when you use SAT NAV with GPS. The battery lasts only minutes rather than hours / days.

Overall it is a good touch phone with plenty of options.

Samsung Omnia i9000

My review of the Samsung Onmia i9000.

Well, It's like this, you get your old Aunt and you dress her in a nice disco top, skirt and heels, then you give her a facial beauty treatment and she might look very nice indeed.

However, when you take her clubbing, it's quite obvious that she aint gonna boogie, the old joints are creaking, the energy dissolves very quickly and on a closer look it's quite obvious that this is no surprise because she is pretty old and creaky underneath the glitz.

Samsung has done good job with the makeup and heels, but this is layered on the pretty creaky Windows Mobile system, and like your old Aunt you simply can't get away from the fact that this is outdated, awkward and downright pernickety.

On the good side, like your old Aunt, this is pretty good at multitasking applications, one or more of which is available to do pretty much anything that can be done on a Windows Mobile system.

Battery life ain't much, never was on Windows Mobile system powered PDAs. You have to use the dreadful Microsoft Activesync to connect it to your PC, and this ain't gonna happen unless you set your default email handler to Microsoft Outlook, another bloated monster that will drive you crazy, and who uses this anyway?

Call volume is pretty low, even on maximum setting and is difficult to hear outdoors, screen is invisible in daylight, wading through the settings will turn you paranoid. Samsung, in their infinite wisdom have opted for a multiway connecter for headphones, power and data transfer and as it is pretty imperative to use some form of case protector with this phone, you will find that it will not fit in the supplied cradle without removing your protective case....bummer! The standard 3.5mm jack for headphones does not seem to have ever come to the notice of Samsung!

This is advertised as yet another iphone killer, some hope! The screen is smaller and pretty crowded, the hint you get here is the telescopic pointer dangling on the side, you have to use this because it is near impossible to operate any touch function with your fingers, and no, I don't have "banana" fingers!

In retrospect, I think I should have gone for one of the later Nokia range rather than this.

Finally, I can do no better than quote Panhard, who said of his torsion bar suspension system.."It's brutal, but it works". This applies perfectly here!

Samsung Omnia (SGH-i900) Cell Phone review

This powerful piece of technology is a fabulous all round techno phobe's gadget. It is by far one of the smallest mini portable computers around - like any smart phone, I know. A few owners complain about the sensitive touch screen, but I like it a lot. Text messages are very easy to write especially using the digital pen. Battery life is very good considering the vast memory capability of the phone. I have also enjoyed updating and tweaking the phone to my specifications. This was relatively simple to do as it is very easy to sync. up to web-sites for updates/downloads. My only negatives are the fact that the pen has no suitable housing and that 2009 models have more powerful cameras. Having said that the phone's camera capability is very good. I do not find that sunlight inhibits viewing the large screen by a great deal.

All in all I am very pleased with this phone, I know that this model was from 2008, but I could not get away from its rave reviews and look at other mobiles elsewhere, at an affordable price. For a slightly used, very good conditioned gadget that is not manufactured any more the Samsung Omnia 16gb takes some beating. One last word, I cannot understand how owners let any of their mobile phones get scratched/damaged etc. There are many cheap protective screen and phone covers available. I will certainly be looking after my technology.

love this phone

I absolutely love this phone! bought it to replace a Nokia 5800 that I lost and it knocks spots off that phone. I can't afford an i-phone and this phone is a worthy opponent to the all seeing i.
r>The windows operating system is very easy to use and (of course) fully compatible with my pc. I set up email incredibly quickly and easily. The memory is huge and will take lots of music. The range of programmes is impressive, particularly having Outlook, Word and other office programmes available. The handwriting facility works really well, the quality of photos is great with a 5mp camera, you can record voice memos if you really want to, the list goes on and on and on....

The screen is high quality and i like the fact that I can hide the menu to present a clear screen.

The only gripes I have are the lack of a slot for a stylus but a few judicious buys on Play.com and i am now the proud owner of a snazzy leather case and a super smart stylus that is tied to the phone by the handle bar (if you get me!).

As a non-techie I can't go into more detail except to repeat that I love this phone and I am not sure I want to relinquish it for any other, including the i-phone.Read full review...

The windows phone: Samsung Omnia i-900 Review

On first getting this phone it took some getting used to. Quite a lot of things going on with every click. But I found after reading 2 pages or watching the useful demos on Youtube you get the hang of the basic functions. I really like the variety of applications you get and the widgets are really handy for quick access to certain apps like switching wi-fi on and off, setting alarms, radio and the music library. The keypad is something to get used to. The keys are quite small (alot like the blackberry style) but I found you can enlarge these and its really easy to use now.

The calibration still makes for clicking small icons (say crossing apps off or clicking 'ok' to confirm) annoying. It would be an investment to buy a touch-pen for faster clicking. The fact that you have to remove the battery to enter the sim and the memory card also is a shame, but many phones still do that.

However, I love its looks, ultra smart, streamlined and attractive. All in all its a great phone. It caters for the business (word apps, notes, calender, time manager etc) and for the fun (windows media, real player, web'n'walk, games etc). It takes a bit of time to get used to, then again, I only had it for 2 days!

I would recommend it!
