I had my old remote for EIGHT years! The writing on it was worn out, and all of a sudden some of the controls stopped working! Like the previous channel, etc. At first I didn't know what was going on, I changed the batteries, still no go. In talking to a friend, they informed me that the remote was probably old and worn out and suggested I get a universal remote, which was a good idea, but I wanted the original. Well, since the TV and remote were kinda dated, I figured it would be hard, but I had to give it the ol college try. Perfect with a little “touch up”

An exact replica of original Samsung remote. The plastic is slightly different and has a cheaper feel to it, which is no big deal. The problem with this remote is that the joint where the two halves meet is larger than original. This wouldn’t be a big deal except that the plastic has razor sharp burrs at the edges, making the remote feel terrible.
For $6, i didn’t mind holding a heavy razor, like a drywall knife, a little more than perpendicular to the burr and dragging it the entire perimeter of the joint. Went around twice, did a touch up, then followed up with a very quick sanding with 320 grit paper, the same as Emory cloth. This gave it a smooth feel, very easy to hold.
Function is 100%.
I buy these whenever I get a new tv and I store the original someplace safe, so if the remote gets dropped or crushed in the mechanics of the lazy boy recliner, I still have the original, which I know works perfectly.
The only real difference is that there is no manufacturer logo on it. Buttons are the exact layout and color. Every button and function was tested and works. Read full review

Works the same as original, didn’t solve pause on dvd player

I took the batteries out of our other one and popped ‘em into this one and it worked with TV within 40 seconds. We have a panasonic dvd player that we can’t pause, but all the other buttons on the remote work. The new remote didn’t pause either but a menu popped up onto the tv that said the center (sort of like the “ok”) button was play and the “up” button is pause. So it technically worked to pause our dvd.

I wanted to see if this method worked with the original remote too, pressing “up” instead of “pause” buttons on the remote; it didn’t. I connected the new remote up again, (i only had the one set of aaa’s on hand) and the “up” for pause didn’t work anymore.

So we had a minor miracle of getting pause to work for our panasonic dvd player, but it disappeared. So this remote functions exactly like the original larger remote that comes with the TV.

It’s proportionately smaller by about 30%, my grandparents prefer the larger remote. Read full review
