Great piece of kit for the money just make sure you have a suitable amp.

The unit that this one replaced was part of an 'out of the box' theatre system and the dvd had failed. Purchased this model after doing some research & due to the reviews/price and the fact that I am a Samsung fan. Now, I'm no techy but not an idiot either and after reading the manual numerous times I couldn't figure out how this was going to supply my surround sound. Fortunately I hadn't disposed of my old unit even though I now considered it defunct and so sitting there looking at the speaker connections on it I then wondered where were the speaker connections on the new unit - it was then that the penny dropped - my old unit was a amp/receiver/dvd combo unit and the new one obviously had to run through an amplifier DOH!
Managed to figure it out eventually with the various HDMI and Optical outputs and everything now working great although I have lost the ability to be able to adjust the sound level and balance to the speakers individually but to be honest the auto sound level on this unit is perfect anyway.
I found it quite taxing getting my head around all of the different settings to be had within the system but got there eventually. The wi-fi networking operated easily and smoothly but I found that it wouldn't let me download apps etc. just kept saying they were not available to me - the solution?(for me anyway) The reams of terms and conditions within the settings, you have to go through all of the pages before it will let you in. You don't have to read them, just go through each page before accepting.
The unit is now working as it should and I am well pleased. My only grievance (with Samsung that is) is that you don't seem to be able to purchase the amp/receiver/dvd combo units separately without actually buying a complete new theatre system and also it should be made very clear that an amp would be required to use as a surround system as I am sure I cannot be the only person to have ever had this problem.Read full review...
