One of the great American Novels
Not just a great story of Marine Corps Bootcamp and the Vietnam War, but a great story of those who enlist and a Snapshot of America. Once started, hard to put down. How this has not been made into a movie yet escapes me. Like "Fields of Fire" another great novel of the Vietnam War, these books scream to be made into a movie and the script is already written if one just stays true to the book, the dialogue writes itself.
Get it. Read it. You cannot go wrong.Read full review

Follow a Marine in Vietnam
I read this compelling work of fiction upon my return home from Vietnam in 1974, not knowing that in a few short months I would return as a Marine based on the USS Oriskany, off the coast of Danang for the evacuation of Vietnam, the story is insanely accurate of the trials of Americans in southeast Asia during the time of an insane war, it is the kind of book that once you pick it up, many hours later you will have finished, and be left thinking "What did I just read" and pick it up a second time, not to mention you will find actual history in these writings, so IF you are a fan or relative of an American that served...……. READ THE BOOK IT WILL NOT DISAPPOINTRead full review
