Great movie. Very very real like movie. I just wish the end of the movie had ended with Private Ryan surviving instead of dying.very real life movie.

All the cast were supreme! Good drama and action! It gets me tears up every time i watch it.

And The Point Is??

I watched this movie when it first came out. Lot of hype about being the best war movie ever. Billed as a tribute by Spielberg to his father and the other soldiers who served. Billed as antiwar by those who would wanted to see it that way. For me, a lot of disappointment. Yes, the landing on DDay was spectacular, but did it need the US soldiers executing POWs and pillaging dead Germans for trophies? And then there was the rest of the movie. What was the point of the rest of the movie?? The emphasis seemed to be a ministory about each soldier dying with a lot of contrived situations. Well, it was war and war is about killing and dying. So why dwell on this aspect? And then there is the premise of a bunch of soldiers wandering around France that soon after the invasion like a bunch of boy scouts on a hike looking for a particular soldier. Come on. Well, I bought the DVD cheap to give the movie a second try. My opinions did not change. I rate most of the movie as below average, although the opening landing brings the rating up to average.Read full review...

Saving Private Ryan

This movie it a real eye opener. It makes me thankful to all the men and woman who serve our country. My husband is serving right now. He has been gone for a year. I always think about him and this movie. Wondering if he is going through what the guys went through in the movie. My husband has been to war 3 times in 8 years. He has missed so much in his childrens lives.

This movie brings hope that there are those men and woman who will do anything to save a comrad. Who risk their lives for our freedom. Even though this is just a movie, it brings out the real picture of what our military go through. Its hard to watch these kind when I know my husband is going through the same situation.

I wouldn't let my children watch it, its way to graphic. Its not a movie I would recommend for the faintest of the heart either.
