Seachem Labs Ammonia Alert Aquarium Water Test Kit

Nice compact and appealing. Reads lower than the API test kit, maybe this has to do with "free" ammonia vs. conditioned water.

It was way smaller and visually appealing than I expected, sticks nicely to the side of my spare round 3 gallon tank with small filter. It says that it takes a while to calibrate at first, so I gave it three days before judging it. I love everything about it except for that it reads considerably lower than the API water test kits. Mine was reading ammonia levels at 0.05 ppm while my API test kit was reading them closer to 1.00 ppm. That being said sometimes kits will give slightly different readings so the API kit could be slightly off too. I am not sure but maybe this tester is only measuring the ammonia that is added to the tank over time by fish, but the API tester is measuring all ammonia including that which was neutralized by the water conditioner. Ammonia Monitor

A excellent product for any amateur or professional Aquarium enthusiast. Larger tank sizes I would recommend ordering at least two for 100 gal. or larger tanks you might order 3 or more. A back up replacement is suggested. Simple math here, 1 for every 50 gal. tank and multiply your tank size to order the correct quantity. Seachem Ammonia Alert

Works well for about 6 months, which is cheaper than performing daily ammonia tests. Around the 6th month mark it will start to fail and will need to be replaced. I have 5 aquariums and noticed this failure in all my tanks.Read full review

Never worked

I love Seachem’s products. I have everything from their food, to water quality additives, to plant additives. But their sensors are very hit or miss. I got this one and the pH and neither ever changed. Very inaccurate. A shame.Read full review

Seachem Ammonia alert

I have used this product before and it shows the level of NH3 ammonia in an aquarium. which is the toxic form of ammonia. Other test kits show the total of both NH3 and the much less toxic NH4 Ammonium ion and give a misleading result. The sensor works for over a year.Read full review
