Ten Year Old Technology Works

It makes more sense to have several internal as well as external 500GB dirves rather than one huge terabyte monster drive. If a monster drive fails, you've potentially lost a lot of data. By using several smaller drives, you data is spread out and not as likely to suffer from a single drive failure. Also, smaller sized drives can be dedicated to one specific backup job.
