Great little tool

On opening the box there are a load of bits and the instructions are pretty rubbish.
It's fairly simple to put together and set up. You will need a hex (Allen) key
It requires a solid workbench to be bolted to.
Took me about 20 mins to set up then each chain took about 10 mins to sharpen, I'm getting quicker as I go. I started doing a batch of 3 chains with a cut in one direction then adjust angle on machine and do opposite angle
About an hour and a half later and with several chains done the machine has paid for itself.
The motor is fairly quiet.

Note..before starting I wiped the links and made sure no joints were stuck.
After sharpening wipe with chain oil or something like WD40.
Learn on your most worn chain in case you muck it up.

Not to my standard

Difficult to rate on pick lists but this was not for me, I found the precision of chain location poor and the tool is springy in use -- too much plastic . It may well suit some users but not good enough for me, I would prefer to pay more and have abetter tool. The supplier refunded without any quibble so full marks to them.Read full review...

still going strong

I bought this with the money I would save from not having to pay extortionate prices to get my chainsaw chains sharpened and it has worked out brilliantly, easy to use and now I can always use sharp chainsaw as I don't have to plod on with a blunt one trying to get a bit more work out of it before paying to get it sharpened. I think it's far safer to use a sharp chainsaw than a blunt one.Read full review...

Quicker than that

Great item, the hand held brake to hold chain is a brill idea for quick and easy chain sharpening with no fuss, when i got this i set it up and sharpened six chains faster than i could do one chain with a drimmer type sharpener would recommend to any one using a chainsawRead full review...

worked well for me

The instructions are in very small font and not very good when you do manage to read them, but if you can figure it out it works well. Remember the chain has 2 cutting edges so after sharpening one side you need to adjust the clamp and move the cutting bed to the other side to cut the other angle. The clamp works fine when you adjust the cable properly so that when you squeeze the lever it holds the chain firmly. Don't clamp it too close to the bench either like I did, have plenty of the base hanging over so you don't snag the chain on the edge of your bench. I did also think there would be a dead mans switch but there isn't so when you start the grinder spinning you can leave it running and move the chain along but be careful!Read full review...

Ok so it’s plastic,,,,

That being said “ it does what it should do well”

Couple of things worth mentioning .

1 the back stop for the chain on the one I got wasn’t sitting central to chain so pretty useless . Two washers and a a screwdriver to place them under the bracket and voila sorted .

2 yes it’s made of plastic well 80% of it is this is fine as long as you treat it as such and take your time . Bull in a china shop usage will see it a short life of that I’m sure , being plastic does have its uses though meaning it has GIVE so you can tweak each cut . Should you need too.

All in took me about 10 minutes to dress the second chain I did , fitted it the cut some wood and it cut great so all’s good.
