Letting it ride out
Shed 7's 3rd studio album failed to live up to the hype and popularity of A Maximum High, but unfairly dismissed as the album that finished Shed 7, this coincided with the eventual departure of Paul Banks, for his own reasons, and as it precluded the Greatest Hits way too early.
But the indie scene was dying on its feet at this time, and more bands were being released from labels as the record producers chased the $! and this should always be cited as the down turn in interest.
This has a few top 40 gems in She left me on Friday and the beautiful Chasing Rainbows, spattered through the album are a few firm fan favorites such as Return (hoping that they will in 2009!) The Heroes and the title track Let it ride.
A must for any fan, i would invest in all the albums rather than the Greatest Hits as you can hear the band change over the 4-6 years of recording.
All in all still a good album, but maybe i am biased!
Here is hoping to review a new one in 2009, fingers crossed!!
