Refreshingly new take on a classic.

I really enjoyed watching these, it was good to see these adventures set in contemporary times, and two excellent actors in the main roles make such a difference in bringing the stories alive.

Will Watch Again

Bought this after watching series 2 on TV.
Thought the show was good & was interested to see the first series.
As this is selling at a reasonable price, thought i would buy this to watch rather than pay the same amount to watch on demand.
Youve always got it to watch again then.
The disc layout is the only odd thing with it.
I was considering buying the series 1 & 2 box set.

Perfect update of a classic, keeping all the essence. Couldn't be better.

I loved this when it was on TV so I wanted my own copy. Benedict Cumberbatch is brilliant as the up-dated Sherlock & so is Martin Freeman as Watson. I love all the modern touches like seeing his thoughts as floating comments and the little comedy moments. Una Stubbs is spot-on as Mrs Hudson, she's a little gem. Rupert Graves is also very good as LeStrade. Best thing about this DVD ('cos obviously you can copy from the TV) is the "unscreened pilot episode of Study in Pink" - it's fascinating to see the changes made to make it a 90 min. show. I prefer some of the original to the broadcast version. I now can't wait for the new set of three episodes due out next year.Read full review...

This is the most brilliant series the BBC have released in a long, long time! Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman are just excellent. BRING ON SERIES 3!
