Sometimes less is more
Although the bike industry seems to want us to replace everything to get more and more gears on the back wheel, quality bicycle parts last longer than these trends.
These 7 speed cassettes are doing a great job keeping my older, very functional technology road-worthy. I find that, with a little finesse, I can keep my old, hardly worn 13T cog (if my 13t is hardly worn, why would I want an 11t?) and enjoy the quiet, well-centered drivetrain of that "old" technology. Never had a 7-speed chain break; never missed a 7-speed shift; never needed to spend long trimming a 7-speed to run quietly; never had trouble friction shifting a 7-speed. Can't say any of that about the higher cog count systems I've run into.
I was sad when Shimano stopped making their "premium" 7-speed cassettes. I'll be sadder when they finally drop these. So I guess I'll have to stock up a bit.Read full review

This Shimano 7-speed cassete very good quality, looks like original Shimano quality. My old cassete had 12-28T and on good road I should pedaling to fast for keep good speed. Cause my old worn out I guess that 11-28T will better for speed cycling and that work!

Drivetrain replacement
This cassette was an exact fit for my Mongoose 21-speed MTB with Shimano Acera components. You do not need special tools to remove the old cassette -- just use an old rag to hold the teeth on the cassette while loosening the two nuts on the axle with needle nose pliers. Be sure to also replace the chain and possibly the front chainring crank when doing this maintenance.Read full review
