Learning Curve

My review can't be on the film because I haven't seen it yet. My review is on the "process." I didn't know anything about regions and dvd players. Come to find out, for copywrite laws, the world has been divided up into regions for playing dvd's. The United States is Region 1, the United Kingdom Region 2, and so on. Region 1 dvd's will not play on Region 2 dvd players, etc. And, in my case my dvd, Shirley Valentine, is a Region 2 dvd and will not play on my current player. I queried around and found some multi-region dvd players that I can buy to play my new dvd on. Haven't bought one yet. I also found out that if I was mechanical I could change some settings in my mysterious dvd box and make it able to play Region 2. Research has also revealed that the United States used to have Region 1 Shirley Valentine dvds that have been sold out and never replenished. The UK still has lots of the dvd's. This, unfortunately, is where I bought my new copy of Shirley Valentine. Now I have my copy. I just can't play it yet. Live and learn, huh?Read full review...

Good value.

Brilliant film but some of the words from the original film were changed, like the name of the car was changed from Cortina to Escort and the shop where the jacuzzi was purchased from. The first wording was bought from MFI and they changed it to Kmart!!! Otherwise, great film and good value.Read full review...

An escape to sun, sea and romance.

It really brings out the beauty of Greece and why so many of us would love to be there all the time, Shirley Valentine is in all of us at some point in our lives and the film takes you away from everyday life and gives you sunshine, beautiful scenery, and not forgetting a bit of romance, i loved the film, and i would recommend it .
