The gold standard in broadcast and recording studio headphones!
These over-ear headphones are very comfortably padded and of sturdy construction, offering very clear sound reproduction with minimal sound leakage, and very good isolation from outside sounds.
>You'll find this headphone set used in professional radio, voiceover and podcasting studios. Features such as the detachable, modular cable ensure that it's easy to maintain and replace the components that will see the most wear and tear, and the cable is of generous length - easily extendable if needed.
Now, if you're looking for hi-fi sound reproduction for critical listening, mixing and mastering in a quiet environment and sound leakage isn't an issue, look at Shure's SRH1840 open-back headphones, which will give you a more transparent sound with more 'air'. By contrast, you wouldn't want to use those in a recording studio - and that's where the SRH440 shines.Read full review

Great headphones, great price.
Excellent headphones at a great price! I would say that ever since I have owned these I have loved them. In fact, I loved them so much I decided to buy another pair when I saw them on Ebay. They are very comfortable and have a great sound as well. I use them for doing my vocal recording and love the tone and overall great sound they offer. I would highly recommend these if you are looking for a set of headphones for a very reasonable price.Read full review

Best For The Price
I am currently studying audio engineering in Miami, and i can truly say after recommendations from my teachers. These Shure headphones are the best sounding for the price. The low end is perfectly balanced with the mids and highs not creating a fake bass boosted sound as some headphones would. 10/10 recommend for any person looking to mix and master music. Great product.
These headphones are amazing. They will bring life to any song that has only been heard with regular ear phones. I have had a pair for over 5 years and it's biggest downfall is that the leather around the head pand begins to flake away. I wish it would stay intact better. To upgrade these 440s, get the SRH840 ear pads. The enhance the headphones more and provide a more padded, enjoyable feel.Read full review

Great pro headphones!
The sound is reasonably flat / accurate yet they have enough bass and highs to be fun to listen to. They do an above average job of isolating you from the environment so they would be good for studio work etc. Pretty comfortable as well. I compared these directly to the $500 Shure headphones and these were not as accurate as they had a more forward present type of sound yet still accurate enough to make good decisions with. The $500 model was more comfortable and lighter though. These are probably the best value intro into high end headphones out there. If you want phones with lots of bass and spitty highs these are not the ones for you but if you want reasonably accurate high end-ish sound, decent comfort, decent isolation, for under $100 then these are a great choice! Highly recommended.Read full review

good headphones but a little tight
only issue is these headphones clamp a little too tightly to my head --- it gets painful after awhile. would be good if the arc could open up a bit.

great but not the best design .
I like everything about the SRH440 except the exposed wires above the ear muffs . They are accessible in getting caught and pulling loose from the ear muff .
Domestic oil is your best friend
Sound-wise 440's are one of the best headphones. Well built and sturdy. They have only 2 problems:
First - a little bit heavy, so try them first
Second - become squeaky. So tighten the screws, but most probably it will not be enough. So take a liquid domestic 3-in-1 oil and grease all joints applying 1 drop of oil at each point and junction. Move them in all directions. Let them dry out/leak inside for a while, move joints again. Wipe out external surfaces and enjoy them like new.
Cheers!Read full review

Shure SRH 440
Nice flat response. They slip off my head a lot not matter how tight I have them but the quality far outweighs any minor negatives. Would recommend!
