Zappa's guitar doesn't want to kill my mama here.....

Well, I love FZ's guitar playing, but after getting SHUT UP AND PLAY....I must say I'm a bit bummed out. Sorry, Frank - wherever you are. All the best examples of FZ guitar abuse/wizardry that I know of are in his studio albums, live albums, bootlegs, videos. Plus, they are in context with the rest of the weirdness and help tell the story/sex fantasy that ol' Frank was trying to tell.

I thought the slices of guitar chosen for this CD were just bits of Zappa noodling around. I dunno - maybe I'm missing something. I'd definitely put on SHUT UP AND PLAY....as a backdrop for those rainy days when Klingons drop by my place for coffee, smokes, and intergalactic political opining. Good Halloween album to have blaring when the kiddies come trick-or-treating. Well, actually, THAT album would be Sheik Yerbouti.

Shut Up 'n Play Yer Guitar, Frank Zappa CD

So nice to have this in the collection! Classic Frank Zappa music from the famous 3-LP set on 2 CDs. Great music and way less costly than buying the albums. Recommended!

If you are into Improvisation guitar solos and technique , this is the cd for you. I honestly only wanted it for the cover (Frank with his Guitar) on vinyl lp, but the quality like other Zappa cds is great.Read full review...
