Good value lens i have been using photographing birds at long range , i can use freehand but much better on tripod a good companion for my 90d when i need that extra focal length.

Great Lens BUT

Great lens but quite heavy (to heavy for me) . There was missing lens bag so i returned it. Disappointing at top end of Zoom my 300 mm Canon gives about the same results.

Excellent lens and very good value

I've been using this lens for a couple of months now and have been very impressed with the results. The construction is very solid, the zoom action is smooth and images are pin sharp - even at higher ISOs. It's on a par with, if not better than, my previous big lens: the Canon 100-400 L (a great lens with a major construction issue). The only (small) down side is the weight - but you do get that amazing zoom range.

The attached photos were taken with a Canon 6D at 1600 ISO.

A quality budget wild life/sports lens that might surprise you even!

This lens is a great lens for the money and it is an ideal lens for wild life that you can get fairly close to and that will give you the sharpest results and it would be a good idea to get the Sigma lens dock to set it up properly - which is easy to do.Read full review...

sigma update

i bought this from Carmarthen Cameras as an update to my 1500-500 sigma .
it is an excellent lens and very sharp at f 8 -f11 ..
i have a good selection of lenses but i have rarely taken this lens off,
it is excellent for wildlife and sport photography.
