This is a handy accesory for keeping the tip of a soldering iron clean. Now that the EU have banned leaded solder the newer solders often oxidise tips quite quickly in my experience so this cleaner helps keep the tip clean and the joints good. Clean Sweep

Rather than use a wet sponge these tip cleaners work well. The only small problem with mine is that the wire wool wants to escape from the base but that's not really a major issue.
