Simple Minds - a perect example of 80's music

Apart from the curious phenomena of lead singer Jim Kerr's age ranging wildly depending which newspaper you read, Sparkle in The Rain is a perfect example of the pomposity of 1980's rock. AFter the days of Prog rock then Punk, this encapsulated what the 80's were all about. I bought the vinyl album when it first came out and thought that "Kick Up Inside of Me" was the best track along with Waterfront and buying the CD has not changed my view.
Not exactly scintillating musicianship, but the ability to knock togather some catchy riffs is what Minds are all about. They've come along way from Johnny and The Self Abusers when Kerr played drums and they rightly hold a place in music's historyRead full review...
