Authentic American Indian traditions, foods, ways of existence with nature

This is the best American Indian cookbook I’ve come across because it’s filled with healthy traditional indigenous foods, very authentic with no “nouveau” pop culture, trendy twists to the recipes. Historically accurate. Even if you never make a single recipe in this book, it’s a fascinating read about American Indian ways with the land and views on nature. Love it.Read full review

Refreshingly different

Looks great! Bought it as a present and had a quick look. It has all sorts of different recipes, hence the "indigenous", which makes it stand out from the run-of-the-mill cookbook. Can't wait to ask for some to be made so I can try them.Read full review

A "must have" in every kitchen!

I have been so intrigued by this book. Chef Sean Sherman has created some very interesting dishes that I can't wait to try. And the best part is they are all made with ingredients that honor Mother Earth and can be found all around us. We have much to learn from the Native American Indian culture. My hope is that his endeavors to teach the world his native cuisine will flourish. Read full review

Really interesting!

I appreciate it that it is hardcover because I pick it up to read often. It has many interesting anecdotes. I like the pictures, but wish there were some identifying some of the plants being used. I cannot wait to try some of the recipes, and am glad that some substitutes are suggested since I will not be able to find some of the ingredients.Read full review

Culinary culture, History, Scavenger hunt

Very intriguing book. It clues you in on the people who were here first and how they lived before consumerism dumbed us all down. Written by a member of the Lakota Sioux but for us all.

Indigenous yet gourmet

This is my third native American cookbook. I enjoy this one because the author makes meals seem very gourmet.

Everyone should read this book, and the food looks delicious!

Excellent, superlative, cookbook, which is way more than a cookbook, it's more a collection of recipes for LIFE.
