Slik Lite AL-420 Travel Tripod SBH 100 DQA Head

Excellent compact tripod

755grams. Approximately 40grams lighter. Than the Slik Sprint mini. Slightly lower open height as column is shorter though the leg is slightly longer. An excellent travel tripod. Comparable with the Gorilla pod in terms of weight but much more useful as a stand-alone tripod. It’s the only tripod I know that is sub 1kg for travel and I’m surprised that it isn’t mentioned more. I’m my experience can hold a big DSLR probably more than it’s advertised capacity. Take my Canon 1DS for example. An big honking camera but it can be used. Another point it that the head will come off so another can be fitted if you don’t like the quick release. Normal 1/4 thread. I fitted the Benbo ball head from the Benbo trekker. That fits great and is more robust than the stock head though doesn’t have quick release. My only quibble is that the stock quick release plate doesn’t have a locking pin. Its the same on the Sprint mini. This would definitely be a useful addition.Read full review
