Saved hundreds with this product due to poor Peugeot design

I own a Peugeot 207 1.4 HDI.
My exhaust silencer supporting arm that my local garage fixed with a strap of metal welded (£30) failed and completely corroded.
I managed to get the old one out using plenty of plusgas thread penetrating lubricant to get the old mounting point out. With this part, fitted myself in half an hour.
Like others have found with this product, the shape wasn't a perfect fit, so that meant that the 70mm M8 they supplied want quite long enough. However, after bending the strap and with some strong pincer grip, I managed to get the supplied nut thread just on. Then it was easy ratcheting it up to fit the second lock nut.
This would have cost more money for a garage to do. And hundreds if they changed the entire back box since there is no separate Peugeot strap.
All in all, great for £9. I can't comment on how long it will last before it corrodes but they 3 year warranty suggests it will do just fine for a while.

Last time perfect this time not

Have had one of these before and fitted great but this time the shape was not quite right and so did not fit around the exhaust box properly. I ended up with a big curve on the one side of the box at the back which now nearly touches the insulated underside of the car. I was expecting underside knocking because of this but seems to be ok currently also the bolt provided to secure the two halves of the strap was a lot shorter than last time and because it didn't pull around the box nice and tight I had a job trying to get the two halves to meet....I ended up having to take old longer bolt off the broken strap to use again .Disappointed this time it took a lot longer to fit with the messing about. Should have returned it but needed to get job done urgent.Read full review...

You find better at this price

Fitted very well Peugeot 207 with original exhaust. Bent the bracket to match old one before fitting, slight gap in bracket but may have to tighten more after settles down so gap needed, No problems with bolt right length, If this product has been updated it worked very well. Quickest post ever less than 24hrs and really good quality. Would buy another but think bracket will out last car great value at this price.

Thanks
John

Peugeot 207sw 1.6hdi rear back box strap

Had to buy an after market strap as you can buy them without purchasing a whole new exhaust system. This is a cheap way of securing the back box but I have found some issues with this bracket.
The bracket itself needs to be man handled to fit around the box also on mine the bracket was not big enough to fit completely around the box so had a gap of about 70mm where the two half meet so had to get a longer bolt as the one supplied was obviously to small as the two half were never going to meet up. Also the prong that fits in the mounting rubber needs to be about another 5mm bigger as when pushed through the flared end only just sits on the other side of the mount and the mount is pushed up against the welded on wing supports on the bracket so the extra 5mm would give a much better fit. Even though it was a pain to fit the bracket is now fitted and so far doing ok but obviously time will tell. The listing didn’t specify it would fit the estate model so maybe the back boxes are different to the hatchback which is why I had the issues with the size but I don’t know.Read full review...

Good Value - BUT !!!

Strap is made of good quality galvanised metal, BUT when fitted correctly on my Peugeot 207 - 1.6L ( year 2010 ) exhaust box I found the bolt provided was way too short to engage & close the the clamp. I have temporarily used a piece of old coat hanger wire to do the job until I source an 8mm bolt which needs to be at least 70mm long ! ... silly mistake by the manufacturers, I'm sure a longer bolt would only cost a few pence more and would cover all eventualities as it would always clamp down to any size box. Cannot fault the value for money.Read full review...

Value for money

Bought the bracket as opposed to replacing the whole back box and for the £9 I paid ,if it lasts 3 years I’m more than happy, and to address the brackets reviews of poor fitting etc I work in a garage and very rarely will any aftermarket exhaust or brackets fit straight of but taking the shape of the exhaust in to account it’s very easy to bend the bracket to fit or buy a longer bolt and job done ✅Read full review...

Did the job but needed help

Good sturdy product, seems much better than the rusted part it replaced. Not a great fit and needed some manipulation with a hammer and use of my own bolt to make it fit enough to keep the exhaust securedRead full review...

It fits with a bit or work

Needed a bit of reshaping to fit the back box on my 207 but when in place it was perfect. Needed a longer nut and bolt to get the clamp started and then held in place with mole grips to replace the bolt with the one which came with the strap.Read full review...

Exhausted

As it not the exact shape to start with it would benefit from a longer bolt to pull it together. But overall a good product

Exhaust bracket for Pug 207 1.4

Good quality and easy to fit. Needed to bend it in a little so would close up to back box better. Used mole grips to close up where the bolt goes, then bolted it up with ease. All in all a good item and decent price and service.

Cheers.
