Accessible revisionist work on Britain’s most contentious battle.

Sebag-montefiore has produced a very readable account of his narrative for the battle of the Somme. He offers some interesting new ideas surrounding many of the contentious areas of the offensive from artillery size to Haig and Rawlinson’s relationship.
While some history snobs maybe quick to point out the authors lack of scholarly credentials I found the book accessible and written with enough flourish to keep a reader interested.
