Great Product All-Round

I did a lot of research online about the best soundbars available with in my price range. The Sonos Beam trumped the Bose Soundtouch 300 for price, sound and versatility. The added Alexa feature also saves you £89.99 as it is integrated in the Beam.

The Sonos Beam is quick and easy to set up using your smart phone. The sound quality is excellent and the useful ’enhance speech’ feature come in use for quieter scenes. The sound quality is demonstrated even better with music being streamed through it, with the bass being clearly felt even with the volume at 50%. The maximum volume is extremely loud with near no distortion to quality, although your neighbours might not not feel the same way.

Alexa works okay and the option to turn off your TV is a novelty (although the remote is just as fast). The main problem I find with Alexa is the inability to use Apple Music services with it, as this ‘skill’ is only available in US, Can and Aus. No news yet of when it will be available in the UK. Still, using your phone and Siri to stream to the soundbar via Bluetooth/WiFi is just as easy.

In summary:

A well designed soundbar with excellent quality sound and easy to use features. The Alexa feature is the same as a stand alone Alexa, but is limited by the inability to use Apple Music (my only negative).

Stay well clear of Sonos in my view.

While the sound is reasonably decent, the so called software come App that you need to both set it up and use it is absolute rubbish, and don't just take my word for it go online. To say it was flacky is an understatement, How on earth this company has gained a reputation of producing quality speakers I find quite incredible.

I've worked in IT all my life and it took me hours to get the thing to work and even then it kept dropping out, a nightmare.

Not counting Sonos make you setup an account wanting all your personal details prior to you being able to try and get the so called App come software to work. This then resulting in emails and notifications from Sonos?

As a result of all this and still needing a small sound bar I purchased a Denon 550 far better sound with far better height, the Denon software come app worked first time and has worked ever since. Highly recommended by me and brilliant reviews online.

I would never purchase any Sonos product again.

great product

I was in two minds about buying the sonos beam but thought I'd try it. Its fantastic, easy to connect, even though my old tv doesn't have hdmi arc so I had to use the enclosed optical to hdmi adapter. The sonos app guides you through the set up step by step, very simple to follow. Sound quality is great and so much better than the standard tv speakers. Would thoroughly recommend. Brilliant sound quality

Highly recommend the Sonos beam, this will make a huge difference to the sound from your TV. Bass is surprisingly good from an all in one unit and speech is very clear now (no more mumbling actors in programmes). Very easy to set up and connect with good control through the Sonos app.
An extra benefit as well is that it can be used as a stand alone Sonos speaker or linked to others for music playback. Excellent......well recommended.

Good quality speaker

Impressed by the sound and having added a couple of surrounds it sounds really great. The Trueplay feature is brilliant and tunes it up to your room spec

Only issue I’ve had is it can be a bit temperamental if you eg reset your router as the whole thing runs on wifi. Once the system ‘forgot’ one of my surroundsRead full review...

Great system with lots of choice

I always wanted a good speaker system for my house. I couldn’t decide on what to get then I came across Sonos. I decided to treat myself & bought a Gen 1 beam. Got it all set up using the app which was a breeze to use provided you took your time & followed instructions, I was so impressed with the sound I bought 2 Sonos 1 speakers the sub. Absolutely amazing cinema sound from it. I did have a bit of trouble setting this up, I’d set the speakers up as just that rather than add it to my beam however a bit of patience & contact from Sonos chat on the app we were sorted. Now after 4 years I decided to upgrade Beam & speakers using the 30% discount from Sonos, don’t get me wrong it sounds just the same but as soon as you crank up the volume you can tell the difference, crisp, clear cinema & atmospheric music using Amazon 👍🏼 Saying that I have a Sonos roam & what a sound from just a small speaker.
I definitely recommend this system.

Beaming from ear to hear

Smaller than expected but with a heft that suggests it is well built as are the Play 1 speakers alrready in service, the Beam integrates nicely into a room without being obtrusive.

The installation from a hardware perspective was simple as ther was only the two connections to worry about in my case, power and HDMI from TV to the Beam unit. Using the Sonos App to find, update the firmware and then create the home theatre system with the aforementioned Play 1's was a doddle for anyone who is familiar with the software and it all worked first time.

Using Netflix and Cable TV the sound is clean and clear - the bass has weight but is not boomy and the rear Play 1 channels separate the sound nicely - though a lot of older content seems to lack the signal separation in broadcasts and appears from the front Beam channels only. The volume could be allowed to be a touch higher for quieter content but that isn't really a Sonos more variation in content quality issue.

Alexa does work, though it seems a little hit and miss as to what it can do right now, works with Spotify but trying to get it to play in other rooms etc was problematic and the TV does not know how to interpret channel chanes etc (though will turn on and off)

Overall I am very pleased with the product - there are some elements I'd like Sonos to work on - music only for instance when there is a full home theatre setup and the Alexa integration for multi-room.

Great product. Great vendor.

Lovely sound. Feels like a quality product from the moment you open the box. Very easy to set up. Oh and it has Alexa built in, nice upgrade from our dot.
