Camera has a major issues

Bought this as a upgrade to my olympus bridge camera. Big mistake. This thing has a major issue with it continuously searching for focus. Can not stay focused at all. Also screen doesn't display image correctly. Has a major purplish color covering most of the screen. The rest shows the picture as overexposed when actual exposure us correct. If shooting in auto mode all images are completely overexposed by at least 2 stops. Read full review...

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H300 20.1 MP Digital Camera

This camera is easy to use. It's heavy though. It takes in a lot of light so I have to diffuse my photography lights a lot and don't use much lighting. Color is off on this camera and sharpness is a problem. Otherwise a decent digital point and shoot. Read full review...

A Great Gift

I bought this as a present for an inspiring photographer. I thought this would be a great starter camera and for the price, I couldn't go wrong. The camera does great at holding steady for shots and I love how clear the pictures are because of how many pixels and the chip. My only worry is that after the third use, the camera started having some software issues. The camera would not start up and it would just freeze, so I'd have to power cycle the camera several times or just leave it alone for an hour before it worked again. I know it is refurbished, so I am still weary about her using it again, but other than that, it's a great gift. I'd buy another one. Read full review...

Camera

Camera has a good grip and produces excellent shots. Does require adjusting the exposure value like most p&s cameras. Nice feature is it goes from distance to closeup without having to push a button or switch. Instantaneously. Reading manual definitely helps. Good battery life so far. Own many cameras but first for Sony. Really good buy. Haven't tried video yet.Read full review...

Easy to operate AND light weight with easy to operate and have very nice features.

Nice and awesome and very easy to operate by any age. Weight is ok plus the other items i.e bag, stand cables etc, are also nice. Highly recommended for anyone interested to buy new camera.

Price is also right and you are getting right thing for your money. I am always buying SONY items like TV, camera and so many other things.

Little heavier than your point and shoot... but much more camera with a great zoom.

Would have given it 4 ½ instead of 5 only due to a small amount of noise while zooming during movie mode. However, if there is sound in your movie it will likely not be noticed. The feature I really like is the landscape mode where it automatically splices about 5 pictures together as you move the camera sideways or up. Will make for some great pictures of the Redwoods and Sequoias later this month. Also, has a great zoom.Read full review...

great features, great image quality,

The only thing I can point to as an issue is that it overexposes almost every shot. I have to exposure compensate at stop under mostly. Otherwise, for the money certainly, image quality, zoom, grip, feel, video quality, functions, options, all very nice.Read full review...

service reliability from using 4 AA batteries for power source

I am experiencing problems with the batteries lasting any length of service. On occasion I add 4 new batteries and next day taking pic in bright sun the camera will turn off. Only fix is to put in 4 new batteries next day and all works well. This has happened twice this month.
I bought the camera this past month and need info on how to fix this problem.

Not My Favorite Cybershot

Of the several Sonys I've owned before and after this model, I have to say:

Yes, it has a long zoom...but be prepared to lose good shots waiting for the lens to extend and focus.
And yes, it brags an impressive 20.1 mgp, but it's hard to keep steady enough (w/o tripod) to achieve sharpness. (I've compensated for otherwise poor shots by saturating the photos with extra color and upping the contrast when printing them, which I actually do at my favorite pharmacy photo kiosk...and people seem to enjoy those, even when they're the subjects; but this model takes few that I would enlarge even to 5x7, even when using the finer setting.

I find it miserable to shut the battery/memory card compartment securely when in the "field" and frustrating getting the lens cap off, esp. in a hurry. This is so even in the 400 model.

It does have interesting features like some edits and effects, but I really miss the ones I found most useful (in-camera cropping) and fun (painted look, illustration) in others of their earlier cybershots.
I actually do like the fact that it uses regular AA batteries that are available anywhere, in case I need them as backup; normally, I use AA rechargeables and am happy with their duration. And I'm glad Sony is now making models such as this that can accept a variety of memory cards, not just the Sony brand.

I am most satisfied with the easy-to-use on-screen menus and on-camera control buttons.

Great camera, easy to use.

This is a replacement camera for my Kodak Easy Share Z740. This Sony is a bit bigger and heavier, but feels real secure in my hand. Some said they had a problem with the battery door. I did not find it hard to close, or replace batteries. This camera does have a battery gauge so you know when the batteries are getting low on power. I am really impressed with the Auto feature, it doesn't take it long to figure out what you are trying to do and what to focus on. The only thing I wish they had done was make this camera take more frames per second, but this is not a SLR camera, so for what it is and what I want to use it for, it is a great camera. I would recommend you get rechargeable NiMH AA batteries for it, it does seem to use up batteries pretty fast.

Would I recommend this camera? You bet!
