Heavy weight but good features

My three 'yeses' come with some reservation as it is hard to write a review of a complex camera after less than one week and with having to refer to the online operating guide. So far I have found the camera easy to use at a basic level. The quality of the images it produces is excellent and would rival some DSLRs. Despite its weight it is easy to use as it is nicely balanced in the hand. Carrying it around your neck may prove a different story. I purchased it second hand but unused so the price was more reasonable.
I have ordered Alexander White's Photographer's Guide and am looking forward to developing my skills.

Great addition to my stable of cameras

I have used the MK2 version of this camera for some years and been very happy with it's performance, I have used Canon all my life and wanted something lighter but with as good performance and the RX10 fitted the bill. I am going to India later in the year and wanted a backup camera, so after a bit of investigation settled on the MK4, performance, versatility, 600 telephoto lens, not to heavy to lug around, nice processor, fantastic images, all went to make my decision. Since using this camera over the last couple of weeks I have been blown away by its performance over my MK2, so in all it was a fantastic decision to buy and use the MK4.
I am a professional photographer of over 50 years experience, owning and running two companies one corporate and one for the individual, I do have some extensive knowledge in the field.

Best Camera

Being able to shoot at 25x magnification without lugging around a 5kg 3’ lens has been a dream. This camera does it and the super fast focus means you can actually get wildlife pictures without much practise. Expensive but worth it. Read full review...

Outstanding

Well-researched and bought to replace a DSLR with multiple pro wide and telephoto lenses, simply for the weight if nothing else.

I love it! The lens has the same total range than I had previously across multiple lenses but at one tenth of the weight; the autofocus system is simply brilliant; and the image and video quality is absolutely on par with the DLSR. Battery life could be a bit better but it’s not at all bad, and coming with three (tiny) batteries more than mitigates this.

At full price, worth every penny. At nearly-new eBay price, an absolute steal!

Great camera, in a compact package.

This is an excellent camera, producing very good images, at least as good as my DSLR with its 600mm lens, for a fraction of the weight and bulkiness. This is now my preferred camera for birding, especially with travel involved. Read full review...

A Brilliant Bridge Camera

A fabulous camera. The single, built-in lens does just about everything you would want. It will handle street shots, reasonably wide images for when you are travelling and a zoom which goes all the way to 600 mm. The camera and lens stability allow you to handhold with superbly sharp results. This version I’ve of the RX 10 even allows you to get good close-up pictures. The price for a new one is quite high but worth it if you have the money. If not you can bag yourself good secondhand bargains.Read full review...

Mostly good news

It combines in a single object both an extraordinary range of focal lengths and range of capabilities. Its images are sharp but it is necessary to ensure images are captured from a stable position as it is too easy to take a hand-held shot with long focus and find the image blurred from your own motion.

There are small design issues such as difficulty withdrawing the disk, the strap not being made of a material that resists sliding off the shoulder, and so on.

Sony's RAW format is irritating and not supported by some programmes, and the colour of JPEGs is very different from other camera makers. But both these issues can be dealt with.

I'd recommend the camera for daily use, but I also use cameras and lenses by other manufacturers.

Fantastic all rounder

Amazing bit of kit. I’ve changed from a DLSR Canon set up ( less to carry) the only downside is it is quite complicated ( get the book at the same time) it just takes a bit of getting used to after years of Canon useRead full review...
