Budget MD with a great sound!

This MD player is down in the "bargain basement" end of the spectrum, but it represents very good value for money.

The sound is what you might expect from a Sony MD, and packs plenty of bass when the "Digital Megabass" function is switched on, though my personal preference is to use the unit with no additional EQ.

The LCD is rudimentary, and only displays the current track number and other parameters such as EQ setting and "Play Mode", but as long as this player only supplements your other more fully-featured MD then this is not going to be a problem.

The unit does not play LP encoded tracks, but what it does, which I think is really neat, is skip over any LP encoded tracks after a short delay of around 5 seconds, and continues to search for an SP encoded track which it will then play.

Practically all other Non-LP players merely play LP tracks as "silence".

So if you have compiled mixed format MDs, then this is the unit for you!

Because it is a "budget" unit, the prices commanded are modest, but I think it represents really good value.

Not as robust perhaps as the E60, but still highly recommended.

Important note: this unit CANNOT drive a remote commander.

Perfect little player

If like me you have a collection of minidiscs and want a light weight standard AA powered one then this is perfect.

Only 1 negative thing to be aware of it that it does not support long play minidisc.Read full review...

Old but gold

A nice light and simple 'old school' MD player. It will only handle old style MDs (not Hi-MD) recorded using the 'SP' codec (292kbit/sec) - i.e. you get a CD's worth of music per disc. Made in Japan for the export market, the sound and build quality is excellent, but it is old school so you only get a small port hole display with no track info other than track #, toggled (if you hold the button down) with duration played. Forget about the control sticks you get with more advanced MD models - the only port on the E300 is for headphones.

Bass boost works well and AVLS is there if you want to spare your ear drums.

Bear in mind this device will not handle MP3s or even MDLP (132kbps and 66kbps - LP2 & LP4 respectively). Its beauty is its simplicity - b0ll0cks to the 160gig ipod - take the time to enjoy an album from start to finish in high quality sound without incessant shuffling and fidgeting. These are offered at £30 on ebay which is ridiculous (you can get a hiMd unit for an extra tenner if you bid wisely). But for a tenner or so with one of these you are laughing.

Quality sound. simple operation and no power problems and very reliable pla

Sony MZ-E300 - inexpensive and easy for any user MD player. Gives quite a quality, balanced sound with soft bottoms. Play it can be long, the ears do not get tired of the harsh sounds. In addition, there are no problems with the food - built battery compartment greatly simplifies its operation. Display, though small, but all you need otobrazhaetvesma qualitatively. The player controls are extremely simple and intuitive. Overall a very useful electronic device. I recommend to all fans MD technologyRead full review...

Sony Walkman MZ-E300 Lecteur Mini-Disc

Cordialement.

The cheap but cheerful MZ-E300

The Sony MZ-E300 is a simple piece of hardware with a single job, playing MiniDiscs while on the move, if that's all you need then it's a winner.

The MZ-E300 has a fairly basic specification, but still manages to have that typical Sony style about it. The dinky blue design is compact and only the bulge for the single AA battery spoils the clean lines. It's lightweight too, at under three ounces without the battery. The plastic case is a little prone to scuffing though. The connections are kept to a bare minimum; the headphone jack and that's it.Read full review...
